I think the Copperwood development is on fire. I can see huge flames from my downtown office tower.

Yes, it's Copperwood. It's the lower rise building on the east. (for those who need directions, it's just north of the Shaganappi golf course). I'm just south of the golf course and can see the top of the building from my 2nd floor balcony and there are a bunch of flames visible on the roof. It does not look good at all. I'm estimating I've heard 3 fire units so far maybe more.

Just looked out again and it's gone from dark black smoke to mostly white which I'm guessing is positive. Still, that building is going to have major damage throughout and many people will not be sleeping in their beds tonight.
Kind of hits home as we were coming back home and as we drove down the alley we saw the smoke and it was hard to tell how close it was.

Thank god I stumbled on this thread at home and not at work - I live in the Copperwood complex.
Yeah, it is pretty nuts here - I'm about 3 buildings down from the fire right now, and tons of police, fire and EMS blocking traffic. I couldn't get into my parkade - had to walk in.
