I don't get Tim Hortons, or their customers. People wait 20+ minutes in the drive thru when they could have parked and gone in ordered, paid and eaten in that same amount of time, not to mention making your own pot of coffee at home that takes 2 minutes. It's all in the heard mentality of people and the monkey see monkey do phenomenon. They do support things I like/ support, Brier, Timbits Hockey (but timbits soccer can go to ...) so I don't mind going there once in a while. Their primary customers are hockey/ soccer Moms, dragging their little darlings with them and cramming the faces full of crap. They are doing something right but like I said, I don't get. Tim Horton's and Costco, two places that make me shake my head every time.

Costco is great if you can manage to go on a Monday or Tuesday afternoon.

Why would you get out of your car when you can not get out of your car instead?

20+ minutes in the drive thru, eh? More like 10 minutes on a really bad day. Usually 5 or less.
20+ minutes. Ok. Where's the shoulder slapping ###### emoticon when I need it?

1. Make cheap coffee that tastes like swill.
2. Add huge amounts of high fat cream and tonnes of sugar to mask the taste (double cream, double sugar).
3. Market the hell out of "Double Double".
4. Profit!!!

So you are one of 'em eh. 10 might as well be 20 as afar as I'm concerned, I just don't get it, basing one's commute on the drive thru window.

+1 on Fratello, they are great. I went to their shop to get an Aeropress and the guy kept giving me samples of their amazing coffee as he demonstrated how to use it.

I love me a double double. That's the deliciousness. Add in some chocolate timbits and I'm totally set. As far as Second Cup goes, I've never had their coffee but I did see a billboard that said "Bean Here?" and it made me want to murder all of their employees. Bad puns are on par with the Khmer Rouge, so screw them.

Absolutely, I honestly drink way too much Fratello. They have some really excellent roasts. I was under the impression that Beano actually brewed Fratello coffee.
Add Kawa to that list, too.

I go to Tim Horton's nearly every day but that's because it's 10 steps from the hospital. Any other coffee shop is at least another few minutes or the specialty coffee which are a lot more and I'm not that big of a coffee snob to really care that much. I'm too tired in the morning to notice and anything that will get me through the morning is ok by me.
But to be honest, when I worked at another hospital which had a Starbucks in it, I always went there but I don't find their normal brewed coffee much better. Still that burnt tasteless coffee. McD has a nice smooth flavor to it, but I do enjoy my Timmy's once in a while. Got that bite to their coffee. It's weird, I took a two week hiatus from Tim's and I started to miss it a lot.

Are you one of those people who over exaggerates the temperature to people when recalling the weather? "It was -50 outside! I could barely get my car to start!"

Nothing wrong with loving "double doubles", but people who love them don't seem to realize that they don't like coffee... they just like high fat cream and lots of sugar. It's just like how some people think they like salad, but what they really like is salad dressing.
I personally try to stay away from dairy products and sugar, so I drink coffee black... and Tim Hortons coffee is terrible in it's base form. I think you could put the same amount of cream and sugar in ashtray water and it would probably taste good too.

Yeah, I'm one of them, I guess. One of those guys that likes coffee in the morning and prefers a drive thru. Lucky for me my "commute" ends whenever I get there, so even a 20 minute wait in the DT isn't going to ruffle any feathers.
I'm not addicted to Tims so much as I'm addicted to a cup of coffee or tea in the morning. Tims is easiest for me and I'm not ashamed to say that I go there, even though it's cool to hate Tims on CP.
A coffee aficionado I am not. I drink it in the morning and I drink it too fast to savour it, so it really doesn't amtter too much where I get it. Tims is good because they have food and donuts as well. But I mostly buy at Tims so that I can litter.
Anyway, right now I'm drinking coffee at home. Yeah, Derek. I'm one of them as well.

Well with the wind chill it felt way worse then that.

A co-worker of mine is with a guy who's family owns about four mcdonalds locations and she told me its the same product.
Try them side by side.

Challenge Accepted! I will definitely do this.
I have an addiction to Tims that I've partially conquered. I don't find the quality bad, and just like the coffee. That said I've started to not go very often just because I'm tired of the lines and because it seems like other places have stepped up their game.
Starbucks to me is mind-boggling though. Coffee with cream (that happens to be steamed) is $5? Ridiculous.

This could be. Different methods of brewing the same beans can yield very different tasting products as well.

I think they are just saying that to try and lure people over from Tim Horton's. They taste differently (and McDonald's is better IMO).
This is 5 years old, but McDonald's beat Tim Horton's in a blind taste test.
