Couldn't believe the number of people lined up outside the theater in 102 degree heat dressed up in their witch garb yesterday at the theater. It was a nice humid day as well.

Looking forward to seeing the final installment of this series. I think I'm one of the few that thought book 7 was very good and the logical conclusion of the series.

I enjoyed the 7th book as well, and am glad they split it into 2 movies. I actually think the last 3 books should have been split into 2 parts as the movies felt rushed and left out some important details (Quidditch!).

I started re-watching the whole series a couple of days ago. It had been years since I've seen the first couple and the acting wasn't as bad as I had built up in my head. A fine job from all these young actors IMO.

Well just got home from it. Thought it was the best Potter movie in the series, awesome way to finish off the series. There's action,drama and possibly a few tears shaded in the theater. They really hit the pin on the head with this one. You won't be disappointed, i promise. 9/10

Just got back from seeing it.

Probably the best of the series. Alan Rickman stole the show.

From a movie standpoint, it's outstanding. But as a fan of not just the movies, but the books, they left out a lot of... little things (in terms of the grand scheme) but they were actually very important in the book.

White text:

They never explained why Voldemort couldn't kill Harry with his own wand (not the elder wand... they did a good job explaining that), they never mentioned at all that Harry's invisibility cloak was one of the Hallows, Harry never repairs his wand with the Elder wand at the end.... a lot of little things.

I also felt some emotions were off in some places. When Harry tells Ron and Hermione that he's a horcrux (this actually doesn't happen in the book), Ron doesn't show any emotion. I wish we could have seen some more from a lot of characters.

Anyway, probably just me being picky. It's quite sad, probably half of the people in the theatre were crying (though I imagine part of that is because it's all over ). I enjoyed myself.

Never read the books, so maybe they go more into detail, but that's what I gathered from the movie.

And yes Rickman did steal the show. 7.5/10 for me, thought it was a tad odd that it seemed The Matrix Revolutions inspired a great deal of the movie. Did anyone else notice that?

No. Like Snape held a grudge against Harry's father which led to him having a grudge against Harry himself, Snape's love for Harry's mother also lasted. Harry was all the was left of Lily, so I supposed he loved him in some way.

Great movie all around, they changed scenes around "alot less" than previous movies.

Stuck to the story fairly well, Also how good was the Snape pensive scene?
Never would have imagined it quite like that good in the book.
Final battle scene was a little short hoping it would have been longer, but all in all a solid movie 8.5/10

Easily the best one yet!

Also in white text: They also changed the final fight between Harry and Voldemort. Although it was epic and i liked the way Voldemort disintegrated into ash when he was killed i still kinda wanted a group of people watching them fight like in the book. Meh just my opinion but i do agree with the whole Harry repairing his own wand part. I wish they put that in. Also because of the phoenix feather in both of there wands they where connected to each other. They couldn't kill each other with them but they could harm each other. Anyhow still a great movie

One thing I didn't mention... while I know some of you didn't enjoy the Part 1, Part 2 was missing a lot of the bonding and connection between the characters that Part 1 had. It's a much different movie than Part 1.

It was also quite short. Only 2 hours... I felt they could have fixed the problems from my previous post with another 20 minutes.

Agreed on that point. The last one should of been 20 minutes shorter, while this one could of been a bit longer. There should of been a trade off at some point between the two.

I still say that the movies suffered a great deal from not having a completed story to build off of. When they get remade in 50 years or so, they'll be much better off

I am going to see this tonight. I didn't want to read this whole thread and find out anything about the movie that I didn't want to know. I also don't really want to read about what other people thought, as I want to go in with an open mind on it.

The thing is it has been a long time since I saw Deathly Hallows Part 1. I don't have time to watch the whole movie again before I see Part II. Is there a short review (video or text) that I could browse over before I go tonight? Just something to remind me of what happened.

Basically its Harry, Ron and Hermione going out and searching for Voldemorts remaining horcruxes, and they learn about the Deathly Hallows from Luna's father (The hallows are the elder wand, the resurrection stone and the cloak of invisibility). At that time his diary and his mother's ring are the only horcruxes that have been ones destroyed. Voldemort is pretty much trying to catch Harry and kill him (obviously) and he has taken over the ministry of magic and hogwarts and he makes Snape head master. Harry and the gang do find another horcrux (A locket that belonged to his father i believe) and they are looking for a way to destroy them and find out that the sword of gryfindor can destroy horcruxes. Ron leaves the group over and argument and his jealousy of Harry and Hermione's close friendship (he thinks there is more going on) and someone leaves the sword for Harry using a patronus in the form of a Doe. Ron comes back and helps Harry retrive the sword and he destoryes the horcrux. In the end of the film Voldemort finds one of the hallows...the elder wand. He steals it from Dumbeldore's grave and cast a powerful lightning spell in the sky.

This is one thing that has bothered me about the last few movies. I enjoyed Part 2, but not to the extent I could have if they had introduced the story line properly. It also caused scenes that were supposed to be dramatic to fall flat (Sirius' death, the Harry/Ginny relationship which is great in the books but falls short in the movies IMO). Like I said I wouldn't have minded to see The Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows all split into 2 parts. Or at least make the movies longer. LOTR proved that people will sit through a 3+ hour movie so why not do it? Its Harry F****** Potter, I don't think you're going to lose customers because the movies a bit long.

That said, I have enjoyed all the movies (I think the 4th one is still my favorite) but for anyone who hasn't read the books I recommend doing so. The 5th one is especially enjoyable.
