Default Building a speaker box...

EDIT: Can this please be moved to the Tech Thread? My bad.

I've searched CP, and searched around the internet machine a little bit but I want to build simple speaker boxes.

They will be used 100% outdoors, and I'm looking to do it for cheap. I removed speakers from my wifes old stereo, I removed the front plastic piece that houses the speakers, kinda like these:

Can I just make a simple box out of pressure treated wood? Don't really care about quality as at some point I will invest in a decent pair of outdoor speakers.

Any thoughts?

Silly question to start but have you tried them outside yet, and are you happy with the sound? You generally need a bit more juice outdoors. I have no idea what that system is though.

Check out diyaudio.com. They've got a forum all about speaker building.

Yeah they are fine but they were outside for 4 years, and the MDF has gotten all saggy and what not.

I guess a simple box would do the trick, I did go to the diyaudio site and there are some great suggestions there.

Thanks for the help!

It might be a good idea to make a 4 point system around the area you will be needing them. Unless you are on an acreage, you may upset the people around you due to volume with only two. The four point system will enable you to have lower power speakers around your yard but perfectly tuned sound for all areas in the yard. There will be no need to blast the music and the neighbors will love you.
