Default WEEK 2: Stamps at BC

Stamps are 0-1 so far this season thanks to their lost against Toronto Argonauts last week. As was expected some are still out of sync last week. We still could have won the game if Maver hit at least one of those field goals. Oh well, it's too late now and we can't turn back last week's game.

OFFENSE:

Stamps OLine wasn't that good in the first half but they are starting to gel a bit. Missing Tsoumpas in the first game didn't help as both J.Michael Deane and Myddleton sort of struggled. With Tsoumpas might be back in the 2nd game, look for Deane to be the backup. Deane I think got lots of potential to be a good CFL OLine. We will see how these young guys play against BC defense tomorrow.

Henry Burris started off well in the first game but then kind of hesitant in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. With the OLine struggling a bit, Burris didn't get a lot of time to look for receiver. I am sure Burris will be a lot better in this game against BC.

It doesn't look like Reynolds and Cornish got used a lot vs the Argos. When they are running the ball, the DLine and LB for opposing team are there right away. Cornish had some nice runs though. Stamps need to utilize this 2-head monsters a lot against BC.

It looks Ken-Yon Rambo will be out against BL Lions. I didn't really see what happenned but obviously the injury was a bit serious that's why they are taking a precautions. Landan Talley had success last season when he replaced Nik Lewis and hopefully he'll have the success as last season on his first game. Maybe we will see the young canadians play more vs BC.

DEFENSE:

I thought the DLine did okay against the Argos. Chris Jones was a bit conservative last game and hopefully he will unleash the beast against Buono's team. With the injury to Malik Jackson last game, the LB position was a non-factor although Brandon Isaac played well. Robert McCune practice as an LB this week so I guess he'll be ready.

I thought the DB position answered the bell last week. They got burned once but overall they played well considering everybody was wondering how will they play with Browner and Anderson. We will find out if they better in this game.

SPECIAL TEAM:

I thought Larry Taylor did an excellent job in punt and kickoff return. We need to have a better blocking from the rest of the group. I can just see Larry Taylor going all the way soon... maybe against the Lions.

This is the reason why you should never hide your injuries to the coach especially if you are a kicker and your injury will affect your performance. Maver came back too soon from the injuries. It was a selfish move on his part that cost us the game. He should sit last game out and use Fabian one more time or even use someone else. You can tell by looking at Maver's face that he was hurting everytime he kick the ball. Maver is out due to injury against BC Lions and will be replaced by Paredes. I can just see Rob Maver getting antsy and worried when Paredes have success especially on a long field goal.So far it is not a good start for the Stamps injury-wise. They already a bunch of players due to injury and now they have to add Ken-Yon Rambo, DL Corey Mace, LB Malik Jackson along with R Jabari Arthur, Drew Tate and others.

GO STAMPS GO!!!

Game in BC Empire Stadium at 8pm Friday, July 8th. It will be televised on TSN

We have been dominant against Wally and the Lions since Huff took over. 1 loss in 3 years, including playoffs.

Hopefully we come out with a better start then last game, make some plays and score some points.

I predict a Lions 8 point win. Burris and co. will need a few more weeks to gel, especially the front 5.

I'm not looking forward to the Eskimo game

Stamps are in big trouble tonight, Stamps played really poor game against a very average team.

Few elements to watch,

Will the offensive line have a better game.... thought they really struggled last game.

Will the new Field Goal Kicker produce?

Can Burris show up and be sharp... last game he was "off" for most of the game....

Predict Lions will win by 10 points...

Pretty good analysis. I think we'll see a lot of Reynolds today but I don't think Burris is going to have a great game.

I disagree with your assessment of the DBs, the corners especially. It's mote like they held in there, albeit barely. They were beat a decent amount of times but only one time of consequence. Against the Lions the really need to step it up.

DBs were not tested by Toronto as their QB is fairly weak in terms of a passing game.

I agree BC however is a different story, Stamps DBs better be on their game.....

I disagree, the Argos went after the Stamps secondary, particularly on corner routes and frequently they had the Stamps coverage beat but the pass was either just overthrown or dropped. Lemon looked much improved after last year. I do agree on the Lions though, they like to go vertical and have better receivers than the Argos.

Its going to be a tough game for the Stamps to win, still way too many question marks especially on defense. The secondary will be able to do their jobs if the d-line can actually get some pressure on Lulay.

The Stamps will need to be at their best tonight on offense as I fear the defense is going to get torched on the ground and in the air.

Jeez, it feels like I'm reading the GDT on Riderfans.

Fears about the defence getting torn up, specifically the secondary and the offence not producing as it should be.

Oh and injuries being a factor.

Maybe, but the Fears are realistic. I would think the Lions are the favorites to win and they should win by quite abit.

Offensive line is badly missing two of the key starters.... they had a tough 1st week.

Field Goal Kicker is gone for 1 month or so... can the new guy produce?

From a positive stand point... Larry Taylor looks like a real threat ......

I've said it before but the West could be incredibly competitive this year with Cgy, BC and Sask all competing for the division title and the Esks possibly not being terrible.

I guess I'm in a similar situation as lots of you Stamps fans. Lots of question marks surrounding the team. And many in similar areas. Is the star QB going to produce? Is the defensive secondary going to be porous? How good are special teams going to be, specifically FGs?

Lions played the best team in the league (on the road) while the Stamps played a very average CFL team (at home) .....

Lions struggled in the 1st half, but played very well in the 2nd half.

Stamps had problems all over the field.

I think the Offensive Line will be a lot better at this game. They were awful at the beginning but they improved as the games goes on. I don't think Tsoumpas will be back tonight but I like that young Deane.

I really think Paredes will produce. He's been awesome at practice kicking long field goal and such.... but that was practice and nobody from the other team's fans are on the stand. He also have to deal with his nerves. But I think he couldn't do any worse than Rob Maver did last game. Not blaming Maver because he was injured.

I really think the real Henry "HANK" Burris will show up in this game and be productive. He was good early on then his play kind of went downhill a bit in the middle then spiked up again in the 4th. If he threw the ball a little shorter on that breakaway pass, we wouldn't be talking about their loss last game. Bryant connected on that pass and Stamps would have won the game.

It is going to be a tough game but I still think the Stamps will prevail. How about a 20-17 for the Stampeders?

GO STAMPS GO!!

Well Boyd ran for 100 yards last week and Lemon missed open receivers deep more than once. The Argo's offense made the Stampeders defense look better statistically than it was. I thought once the Lions got rolling in Montreal they looked very effective on offense and they were a handful for the Stampeders last year when healthy.

I'm not saying the Stampeders are terrible and the playoffs are out of reach. With all the question marks on the offensive line, defense, kicking game, etc. it looks like this game will be difficult for the Stampeders to win if the Lions play well. It's probably going to take a great offensive effort from Burris and Co. to pull out a win and Henry usually doesn't show up until week 3 or 4 of the season.

The black helmets look awful. Hideous. No way they keep them for the whole season.

38 yard B.C. kick return, not the start I was hoping for.
