Default Is It Snowing Outside?!

Guaranteed one Stampede out-of-towner has asked this question after they saw all this fluff raining down from the sky. MY GOD why is there all this fluff this year?!?!?! What exactly is it?! Tree sperm? I've never had allergies from stuff like this before but I got it pretty bad. Roof of my mouth is itchy, sneezing, watery/itchy eyes. I've been this way for about 2 weeks. I am considering buying an anti-histamine.

What's the deal?!?! Anyone else fed up with it? The north is a mess from all this fluff crap.

I'm allergic to that stuff and anti-histamines haven't helped.

Hasn't been a fun couple of weeks.

Really? I also have allergies to cats but never used an anti-histamine before in my life. I figure it has to do SOMETHING. I also want to get one from a health food store maybe.

I've been trying to wait it out but my god it just won't stop!!

Isn't it from poplar trees or something?

I was playing golf yesterday and I lost a ball amongst that crap. I saw where it landed but after a couple mins of searching I gave up.

It is from poplars. As to why there is so much of it I have no idea.

@arlo: I feel your pain man. I've been on three hits of benadryl a day for two weeks now. I haven't had allergies since I was 20. For me though it's almost making me asthmatic. Coughing and coughing and blowing my nose tonnes and hacking up mad amounts of phglem.

Same with the allergies. I haven't had allergies since my late teens, and I'm getting sick of the sniffles, runny eyes, and itchy throat. The antihistamines help, but they really tend to just knock me right out. I've used Dristan Sinus and Cold, and that's actually helped me with a lot of the symptoms without making me so goldurned tired.

I'm allergic to pollens and that fuzz stuff, and dog hair and grass to a smaller extent but have always been able to get by drug-free and feel pretty good.

But the last couple weeks have been terrible, my eyes are redder than the goal light behind Roberto Luongo. I tried Claritin last week and it did nothing so switched to Reactin this week and have noticed minimal if any difference at all.

The only thing that's helped so far is this Sinus Rinse. It's basically a saline solution dissolved in water, you squeeze it up one nostril and it comes out the other. Cleans your sinuses out real nice and really slows down the irritation. Sounds disgusting but you feel great after.

This stuff:

Yea except the Neti-pot is basically a teapot that you pour up your nose...which I don't think I could bring myself to do.

The Sinus Rinse basically forces the water up your nose so you don't have to do it. Plus it's easier to use, just put your nose over the black cap and squeeze.

They both do the same thing essentially, I just find the squeeze bottle more comfortable and less disgusting.

I've been getting allergy shots for a year now. Normally I would likely be missing work right now from this crap, but now it's a manageable level I can deal with. I'm guessing all the rain meant that when the nice weather finally hit, they all let loose at once?

I'm glad I am not the only one who is having severe reactions to whatever is flying around in the air lately. My eyes are so itchy and dry, the roof of my mouth is itchy, and I'm sneezing way more than any human should.

I love summer, so it's worth it.

This year has been one of the worst by far for my allergies. I'm no stranger to them, but I cannot remember a year where in July I'm still completely dependent upon them to function. Usually by late May I'm off the daily anti-histamine and don't have to go back on them until September. I'm still taking them and while they work, I've currently got a horrible allergy/head cold. I'm afraid to think of what I'd be like if I stopped them in May.

The pollen usually happens late May / early June. It's delayed this year.

Why is there so much? Think about it this way - if you want to wax your carrot but can't for some reason and have to wait a while to do it, you're going to have a lot more available for your release when you do. Trees, perhaps, behave in a similar manner, and hence, now have a heavier load to spray this year

Except the cotton's not the tree jizz - it's babies from the females. The sap the tree spews all over your car when you park under 'em is the male tree getting off on your windshield. "Treecum" as my father used to call it.

Technically yes, but the trees are spraying white stuff everywhere. Indian sap wins in the stick department.

Either way, trees are perverts.
