Congrats to the Eskies and Kavis Reed for his first win.
Riders offence was ok. The defence needs work. Eubanks had a really rough game.

So not impressed.

Yeah their streak is completely misleading because the stadium was so small. Even expanded it's still the smallest in the league and they can't even sell it out at 25,000. Pretty sad if you ask me.

At least the Stamps can say their kicker let them down. The Riders just stunk and got crushed by a pretty average Eskimos team.

I think Edmonton will surprise a lot of people this year. Ray is due for a bounce back season, and with some talent in the receiving core he can be just as good as AC.
Burris, as usual, is such a troll on the field. I've never seen anyone so jeckyl and hyde as him. It's not even like Durant and his propensity for throwing picks, Burris just seems to lose intensity and his will to do what it takes to win and becomes this miserable QB. He's my #1 reason the Stamps don't have at least 2 more rings in the last 6 years... and if you got the Stamps front office alone and drunk they'd likely agree.

He's the number 1 reason the Stamps have had a chance at the Grey Cup the past 3-4 years.
Arguably the best QB in the league depending on how much you overrate Calvillo.

Oddly enough I found myself quite content with yesterday's Eskimo win. It's not often that I hope for an Edmonton team in a game, but with the way Stamps fans got razzed by troll Riders fans after the Argos game on Canada Day it seemed nice that the Riders got lit up.
I'm really sick of riders fans showing up at Stamps vs. Non-Rider opponent games clad in green jerseys just to heckle Stamps fans. It isn't enough that they ruin the game experience on Rider game days, they have to try and wreck every other game too. If they insist on coming down to those games, they should wear neutral colors and shut up.

It's weird and I feel ashamed to say this but I was content as well. More for the fact I think Kavis Reed is a good guy and deserves to win a bit. And I don't mind Marcus Crandell winning either, he's a good guy as well.

This could end up being a crazy year in the West if Edmonton is acutally half decent.
One definitely or even two of Calgary, BC and Sask could start 0-2. That would be crazy.

Given the way the Sask's roster year, that's not much of a surprise. I think it's back to the next era of mediocrity for them.

But that's what I mean. It is totally possible that everyone in the West will be mediocre. Best record might be 12-6/11-7 and worst might be 8-10.
You'll see 4 teams but none dominant. At least I don't see it as being likely.

Its easy to feel okay about the Esks win based on how terrible they have been and how bad they will be this year. They are no threat at all to the Stamps this year. Whereas the Riders, even with a lack of talent are always a threat considering the help they get from the refs and the league.
Its the CFL it is easy to look good for one week.
Based on the lack of talent, as well as the coaching/management staff, the Esks should be back to their losing ways very quickly.

The Riders will still be in the mix even though it appears that the loss of talent is catching up with them. The Stampeders look like they may take a step back this year as injuries are mounting early. The Lions looked best of all the Western teams in week one pushing the Als although you could make an arguement for the Eskimos but they were the only team to have a win handed to them and IMO that team is too thin on high end talent. The West will be very tight this year but IMO BC looks poised to take the Conference.

It was WEEK 1. I still think the STAMPS, RIDERS and LIONS will be 1, 2, & 3 in the West.

I will wear green to every Stamps game at McMahon I go to, which will be at least 6 or 7 this year. However I will wear my green and cheer on both other teams without heckling fans of either team.
This is what I love about the CFL, at the Stamps game on Canada Day I saw a jersey from every team except Montreal. Go out and wear your colours!

How do you feel about Canucks/Oilers fans wearing their jersey's to completely unrelated Flames games?

I frequently attend Stamps games and cheer for whoever will benefit the Riders (this is not always the opposing team). However since I don't have a lot of vested interest I very casually cheer. Thing is, even if I don't wear a jersey I still cheer for whoever benefits the Riders.
The douchiness comes from the heckling IMO. If someone shows up in a teams jersey who is not playing and spend the whole game talking trash they are a ######bag no matter what jersey they're wearing. Have you considered that a) you just hate Rider fans b) you can't stand opposing teams fans in your building.
Neither would be unusual.

Flip,
I'm totally cool with Rider fans and opposition fans in general at McMahon provided their team is actually playing, and if not they should still be most welcome to come on in to enjoy football without provoking other fans. For the record though, I think showing up in a Riders jersey and hooting and hollering when the Argos score qualifies as provoking other fans. At least we both agree that the heckling and trash talking was offside.

Hooting and hollering is pretty vague.
If I was there, and I wasn't, I'd stand up and cheer whent he Argos made a big play, be it TD, INT or whatever.
But I certainly wouldn't be anything close to rowdy about the Argos. Getting all beligerant is uncalled for.

I really couldn't care less.
And Cecil pretty much said my arguments. However I won't cheer on whoever helps the Riders out most (usually). I'll cheer when either team makes a big play. If my team isn't playing I go for the entertainment from the best league in the world.
