Bad news had to go to BC for a wedding and gained back 5 lbs after 2 weeks of beefdips and way to many beers. Going to start playing some tennis and do some p90x to get back down to 175!

Looking to lose 20-25lbs. Need to be a little leaner and meaner for hockey. Some good advice in this thread, I will have to check out a number of those sites for meals and eating tips.
Stretch.

This thread is so awesome. I lurk all the time but rarely post. I started working out and eating properly in May, so far I've lost 22 lbs. and am down to 185. Want to get to 170 by the end of the summer. Keep up the great work everyone!

Been stretching most of the week and doing it now in the office. Did a light ride this morning and the legs felt a little shaky. Should be interesting.

Drinking beer and eating wings is just so much easier.

I started doing it in January. Usually go 2-3 times a week, alternating days with kickboxing and running.

I'm not completely sold on the idea of Crossfit, and the whole ideology behind it, but it's hard to deny the results I've been seeing from it. I've built a lot of muscle and have gotten a lot stronger since doing it. But there are definitely some workouts where I can barely move for several days afterwards...

Curious. You say you are not completely sold yet rave about your results.

What do you perceive as lacking?

I guess I just don't particularly like a lot of the workouts, and I find that it seems to focus on doing as many reps as you can, as fast as you can, with as heavy of weight as you can, with very little focus on proper form. But that could just be the result of the instructors we have here.

Maybe I'm just being whiny, and I'm not a fan of a lot of the olympic-style weight lifting workouts, but like I said... the results are there, which is why I keep going I suppose.

I don't want to know what kind of girls you hang out with...

Seriously though, I'm considering cross-fit very strongly right now. After over a decade in the gym, I feel like I've gone as far as I can go there.

Functional strength really frightens you, doesn't it?

You're really rocking the 15° range of motion with full body momentum on your bicep curls though I bet.

That's the problem with it.

A good instructor will stress good form before anything.

Fair enough. That seems to be a common knock on CF, people sacrificing proper form just to get some good numbers. And you're right, it seems to be site/instructor dependent.

Personally, I could care less what numbers the guy beside me puts up. I just try to get a little bit better each time.

I agree with you on the olympic lifts too. I hated those things with a passion when I first started. I literally couldn't do an overhead squat to save my life. There were women at the gym who were half my weight lifting twice the weight I was. I was finally able to do my first proper overhead squat after three months!!!

You can stick with your kipping pullups, bouncing deadlifts and curls if you think you're improving your functional strength. I'll stick with the my exercises, okay?
