Is War for Cybertron really as good as the War for Cybertron thread would have me believe?
Yes, War for Cybertron really is as good as the thread would have you believe.

It is the most under-rated game of this generation in my opinion. The multiplayer is effing amazing.

Damn this Steam thing. Wish no one mentioned this damn thing and Team Fortress 2 being free. I haven't gamed on a PC since.. Sim City 2? Now I've been playing TF2, downloaded that Tropico because QCI mentioned it on the other page, now I'm getting the Space Quest collection. Could you guys have mentioned this back in January when it was -40?

Today was a good day. I only bought one game, as the others I already owned (from the last damn sale) or didn't want.
Defense Grid is pretty fun.

I just purchased War for Cybertron based on this thread.

Considering Dragon Age II but never played the original and not sure how much that matters. Not to mention i just started playing Oblivion and i'm only about 15 hours into it so i figure my time will be poured into that for the foreseeable future.

The first Dragon Age is available with all the addons for a little over $10. I grabbed that and will grab DA2 if I enjoy DA when it also drops below or $10. Just click the Dragon Age 2 graphic to see the Dragon Age sale too. This goes for a lot of other games. If you click the game image there are likely other games in that franchise and addons also on sale.

Bought Frozen Synapse after hearing about it and watching a youtube review. Seems like it should be awesome.

Have only bought this and Magicka so far. Limiting myself as best I can.

I've posted about Frozen Synapse a couple times now - it's a small indie game so it got overlooked I think. On sale and you get two copies so you can gift a friend. Awesome deal!!

It's like the tactical portion of the old Tom Clancy Rainbow Six games but actually plays out on that blue screen rather than FPS.

Is Frozen Synapse at all like the old X-COM games?

I didn't play War for Cybertron multiplayer, but the single player was BOOOOOORRRING. Awesome for the first few hours, then the rest was exactly like the first few hours over and over and over and over and over.

Then I FINALLY got to switch to Megatron, and more repetition.

I didn't even finish the game.

^ Yeah, it bored me to tears until I was able to use a flying Transformer like Starscream or Jetfire. The game was pretty ugly.

I played the game with the Transformers cartoon season 3 and movie (1986) soundtrack though which made some parts bearable or even exciting (fighting Omega Supreme, flying through space to fight Trypticon). I didn't try multiplayer either. Hardly anyone playing on PC.

I would say only in that it's turn based. You both plan your strategy at the same time then is play out five seconds and then you do it again.

Here's a game I played against my buddy (I'm green, he's red.)

So each five seconds of game play is one turn. In between turns you can give orders to each of your players: where to move, kneel or stand, to engage/ignore enemies, check behind you and more. When you've planned for what you think your opponent is going to do - commit to the turn and wait for him to finish his plans.

The best part is you can have multiple games going at once while you wait for other players to submit their plans. If you log off - you get an email letting you know when a turn is ready and you can log on whenever you want and finish it up.

I picked up Puzzle Quest 2 for $10. Neat little Bejeweled style game, nice for when you have 20 minutes or so to kill.

Today I bought Tropico 3 for $3.49, which is more the kind of price I like during Steam sales.
Civ 5 is one of today's deals. $25. I think that's probably just cheap enough that I'll buy it instead of the full 2K pack. I suspect that Civ 5 will take up enough of my time.

I'm really enjoying Super Meatboy, which I picked up on the first day of the sale. Great old-school platformer, with some diabolically hard levels.

One of the best things about the game is Super Meat World, which is the Steam version of The Internets from the 360 version. Even though I've played the game a hell of a lot, Super Meat World has lots of very well done user made levels, plus Team Meat continually updates the featured levels with more to try.

I bought a wired 360 controller just to play the PC version, even though I already owned the 360 version.

Disappointing sales mostly for me so far, but today has Terraria on for 2.49 which I picked up to try later.

Also Dead Space 2 (I'm going to wait a year or so for it to drop further) for 14.99 and portal 2 for 50% off at 24.99 (also going to wait with this one).

If anything, while I spend so much more money now on games with steam than I did before, it has at least made me much more patient for them to mark the games down after a year or so and then pick them all up on >50% sales after that point.
