Default Tubing down/around Edmonton

I'm looking at going tubing with my girlfriend somewhere around Edmonton. I was around Edworthy Park today and we thought it'd be fun to go... except I've never really seen anyone go down the North Saskatchewan River. Is there reasons why?

Anywhere within an hours drive would be good, and do we need to rent/buy special rafts or would the $50 Canadian tire specials suffice?

Thanks!

Because its Edmonton... You'll catch VD from the water. boil it before you drink it.

It can be quite dangerous unless you are in a boat with paddles. The current and undercurrents can make swimming extremely treacherous even for an expert swimmer. Make sure you wear a lifejacket to keep you above the water.

Whenever I want to raft in Edmonton I post my questions on EdmontonPuck. They know everything about Edmonton over there.
