Default MySpace Sold

Amazing. At one time it was valued in the 10's of Billions. Today it sold for $35 Million.

http://www.montrealgazette.com/techn...208/story.html

MySpace practically invented social media, but just didn't know what to do with it. Credit where it's due, I suppose.

I'm amazed it had any value at all. That's nuts.

Holy crap. $65 billion value to $35 million is pretty sad.

To be fair, they banked 950+ mill in ad revenue.

Was kind of my initial thought as well.

The name has significant recognition still, so I suppose an entity could be built around it (which is what Timberlake and all are clearly banking on).

Frankly, I wonder why Facebook didn't buy MySpace.....just to stamp out the only true name-recognition-competition.

Yeah, their name is synonymous with failure for me, but I guess the buyers thought they could leverage the recognition.

i still use MySpace to check out new bands, as it's the quickest way to find out what they sound like. apart from that though it's pretty useless

In other news, HMV Canada sold for $3.2million.

If I knew it was for sale, I would've bought it.

MySpace needs to focus on this music aspect. Maybe offer downloadable versions of the songs you can stream for 10cents then take 20%.

He's the most advanced music recognition software, of course he does, and I trust his judgment on such matters.

If I wanted your opinion I'd have asked about a delicious Italian pie.

PS: Logan Shaw to Florida? Feaster, didn't I tell you to draft him?

I hate it when it's full price, I was waiting for the 2/$4m discount.

Facebook has yet to make themselves the home for grassroots bands and a great spot to find music. MySpace was definitely the best for that.

I've only looked at it a bit, but Google+ seems to have the architecture for that.

I have a great app I use for grassroots music. You probably haven't heard of it.

Myspace is the geocities of social networking. Cheap looking and disorganized.
