the telegraph is usually pretty decent so this is a bit of a surprise, if they do end up selling both of them they won't finish in the top 4 regardless of who they bring in
very few players come in to the premier league and take off, for every Hernandez there are two Dzekos
most players take at least a year to fit in
I can't see Wenger allowing both to go, I think Cesc does and Nasri stays

Clichy to Man City for 7m
Sky Sports is celebrating Nasri on his way there as well, 20m and 180k per week
Cesc done to Barca by the weekend is over as well for 35m potentially rising to 40
why is Wenger gutting his own team, they don't need the money.......

I don't think it's a matter of choice really.
Cesc has wanted to play for Barca for years now, so his move should come as no surprise.
Nasri is flat out refusing to sign a new contract with Arsenal without getting paid like one of the top in the EPL. If this Man City move becomes a reality, that kid will be villified in London for being a greedy little ####. And rightly so, in my opinion.

I get the Cesc one, and even Clichy
but with Nasri, to only get 20m for him, easily one of the best 10 players in the league, seems like Wenger is sort of giving up, especially to city
either that or his stubbornness that his young players can do well has gone too far and will now be their downfall

Although certain parts of the squad need to be gutted, I get what you mean. I think it boils down to two things: i) we've been burned when we were in this situation in the past and; ii) if we're going to sell why not sell to City where we can get more than our asking price.
In regards to Cesc, I don't think we are actually as close to selling Cesc as we are making ourselves appear to be; Barca isn't the only club that can play games.

If we don't sell him to City we won't receive a fee that even comes close to his realistic evaluation. Hopefully, it'll be an Adebayor or Hleb-like situation where they have reached their peak or will hit a developmental wall.

ya I do wonder if it is the system, Hleb was very good for Arsenal and ever since has just been absolute crap
will be interesting to see how much Wenger is given to spend too, can't be any excuses to not get the back 4/keeper/DM fixed now

City have officially lost their minds. How many players do they have now?

Well, while thats quite the luxury, they have the deep pockets and can afford it. I think hes gone mad with power personally.
This is pretty much the most vulgar representation of buying yourself a trophy.

Pretty much, they are the new Chelsea, just 10 times worse and they are absolutely destroying the economy of scale in the transfer market.
Smaller English clubs are going to be hard pressed to compete when talent from all over the world come in expecting £100,000/week.
What is City's average wage? I bet it blows £100,000 out of the water.

ya but it will have to be slowed down unless they make deep runs in the CL
they will have to meet the fair play rules in the next 2 years or they will be shutout of Europe

It will really make drafting personal transfer wish lists more fun!
Just a quick one:
Mata
Cavani
Hazard
Vertonghen
Parker (Maybe)
Baines (Maybe)

If they don't unload players before they officially announce all of their signings, they are going to get raped when they try selling players, which they must do according to squad size rules.

The problem remaining with that is that City's players are getting ridiculous wages, how can you buy one of them and then pay them less? You'll never agree on personal terms, City is screwing the whole thing up.

they will probly have to pay for part of the players wages
Adebayor said that he was going to come to Spurs in January (with City paying half of his salary) before Madrid came in with a late offer where they paid it in full
I think that's what will happen, would love Adebayor at WHL if City were going to pay for half of it
or you will get cases like Wayne Bridge where he took a pay cut to leave
Shay Given will probably have to take a pay cut to leave etc.

Until he complains that he feels the fans at WHL no longer love him enough.

In other news, Crissy Pow and Charlton are going mad with the rebuilding process at the Valley. It's both necessary and nice to see!

haha it would surely happen
but after the strikers that were on the books last year I would take anyone who can put a ball in the net
opta had a stat that Spurs created the 2nd most chances in league last year, yet somehow Roman, Timmy, and Defoe only got them to like 8th in goals
less than powerhouse teams like Newcastle and West Brom
