First it's men marrying women, then women marrying men, now it's men marrying men and women marrying women? This is a slippery slope fellas. Up next dogs will marry mountains, satellites will marry dolphins, Ted Haggard will start using meth and prostitutes! Oh...

I am a separation of marriage and state kind of guy. The state should have no say as to where, who, how you get married. It should be left to society to figure it out.
I find this idea interesting, given that we live in a democracy, isn't it fairly simple to argue that the state is simply an extension of society and that the legislative arm of our government is exactly the place where such a debate should take place?
If the government refused to participate in questions of discrimination, wouldn't that expose people to tyranny of the majority type situations?
An environment in which a person encounters only beliefs or opinions that coincide with their own, so that their existing views are reinforced and alternative ideas are not considered.

Probably one of the more harmful lies that democracies like to tell.
I'm old school and to be honest I didn't like the idea of gay marriage but looking at it, my objections were emotional and during the controversy here, I didn't like to see two middle aged gay guys kissing on every Canadian news show. Since it's been passed, it's a non issue and doesn't affect me in any way and I'm glad these new partners have gained the normal rights that every person should enjoy.

Nice to see someone admit that their initial opinion was mistaken and they've changed their views. Kudos.
So there were homosexuals and people who raped angels and received God's wrath.
Don't you think the, I dunno, TRIED TO RAPE ANGELS might have been the reason for God's wrath?
Last I checked the people of Sodom also ate food and drank water. Maybe we should stop doing that! Then again, records from that era are spotty at best.

Note from the Bible: trying to rape angels will result in God destroying your town with raining sulphur. Freely offering up your virgin daughters to be gang-raped by the mob makes you a Biblical hero worthy of God's protection.
Quote:
1 The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.” “No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
3 But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. 4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”
6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”
India, one of the most populous nations on this planet has a health minister that thinks homosexuality is a disease thats infected India from outside its borders.
Quote:
According to Azad, "this disease has come to India from foreign shores", and Indian society needs to be prepared to face it. Unfortunately, he said, the number of "such people" is increasing by the day.
In statements made while addressing zilla parishad chairpersons and mayors on HIV/AIDS on Monday, Azad said, "The disease of MSM is unnatural and not good for Indian society. It's a challenge to identify such people. In case of female sex workers, we can identify the community and reach out to them since they live in clusters. But in case of MSMs, it isn't always possible."
These comments have not only caused uproar among civil society, but also in the National Aids Control Organization (NACO), which incidentally reports to Azad.
"How can this be a disease? It is just a form of sexual orientation. It's definitely not unnatural," a NACO official told TOI.
NACO has been working towards identifying MSMs and giving them a rightful place in society. A large number of targeted interventions (TI) have been put in place by NACO to specifically cater to the needs of the MSM community.
According to NACO's latest surveillance data, India is home to an estimated 4.12 lakh MSMs of whom 2.74 lakhs have been identified.
