Malls (spinoff question from oilkillers thread)
I didn't want to hijack oilkillers thread, but I am genuinly curious, what do you guys (read: males) do when you frequent malls once a week? particularly oilkiller going every week. Why not go to a standalone starbucks for coffee? Or what do you enjoy about going to malls if you have no intention of buying anything?
Malls are a nightmare for me. I've probably been to a mall 3x's in the past 2 years. I avoid them like the plague, and I can't stand being in a mall for more than an hour. I hate shopping in general, to the point where I go grocery shopping at midnight to avoid lines and people.
(General curiosity, not intending to be critical or anything.) Thanks in advance

I usually sit outside the bench at LuluLemon; waiting for my wife to come out.

Malls are the most depressing places in the planet for me. Nothing to do with the fairer sex, but just the very concept of malls, the architecture, the sprawling parking lots, the stupid stores, fake plants, the artificiality of everything. I wish they would just knock the roofs off the malls so sunlight and fresh air could get in.

hot girls....
Also with the post above, I do love malls in warmer climates that are open to the outside, fabric roofs, or open roof concept, and no front doors. The one mall in Maui pops to mind.

I always seem to get sore feet and a sore back at the mall. I must slouch when I roam there.
The only thing I like about the mall is double dipping at a couple different places in the food court. Then watching the crazies while I eat.

Really? I thought it was just me, psychosematic or whatever. I dunno what it is, but after 45 minutes, I get the same thing. And its not like I'm in bad shape, I can do day long mountaineering trips and I'm fine.
That, and I think I don't really like crowds. Chaos in malls are kind of stressful.
I also don't really like shopping or spending money either.

I have no problem grabbing a coffee walking around, browsing the sports and electronic stores.
Let's not forget people watching which is always fun and of course checking out the girls that happen to be there.
That said I prefer doing the same thing downtown, but the mall works as well.

Other than going with a gf to watch her shop and try on clothes and then not buy anything (grrr) I usually go to the mall twice before Christmas and that is pretty much it unless I really need something from there - no going to browse - men dont browse.

I don't mind malls/shopping, but I have a breaking point, and when it breaks a become a irritable #######. I am 99% sure it once caused a break up for me.
Going to a mall in the middle of a week to do a bit of shopping, and maybe catch a movie in the afternoon is something I'll do every now and then. Usually slower, parking isn't an issue, and it's easy to get around.
The thought of spending an afternoon in a mall, especially on a nice summery saturday, gives me the chills.

Appreciate the non-hijack. As mentioned in my last post in the other thread, we don't go EVERY Saturday, but we go often. We spend about an hour at the mall. It's simply something to do in the early afternoon. Might grab a coffee or a pop, people watch, see what came out new in movies at HMV or maybe what's on sale at Stokes or something. We always check out the pups at the pet store (yes, I know many don't like pet stores that have dogs and cats - that's for another thread), check lottery tickets and we usually go to a mall that has a Save On that we like to go to and we always grab some meat from there. They have really decent $10 packs of steaks and chicken breasts.
Again though, it's like an hour and then we go do something else.

Market Mall has a great free kid's play area.
Neither the wife or I really shop though, so we go to malls basically not at all during warm months.
I rarely go to the Chinook food court during the work week because I work really close by and absolutely do not stare at girls.

I'm pretty sure that shopping malls exist solely to infuriate me. Yes, I am that egocentric.

Malls are boring. The only time I go is when I need something and I know exactly where to get it. I'm in and out quicker than my time with a hooker, and half as lubed up in the end.

HMV, Stokes, Petland. Check. Market Mall. It has a Safeway though. Expensive.

I don't got to malls very often and even less now that I purchase nearly all my books, gaming, DVD's, Blu-rays, etc via amazon.ca/com.
The odd time I'll swing by to grab something when I've got the day off and my first reaction is "who the *&^$ are all these people and don't they work?!"
That being said, fair enough on the eye candy factor.

HMV? Is that where you buy a tangible form of music? But why?

Malls are pretty great when it's hot and you don't have AC at your place.

Cool. Thanks. We do most of our grocery shopping at Safeway. I don't find it bad at all actually.

We pick up the odd BD at HMV. Music, not so much. I don't buy much online really. I like buying a movie and having it NOW, not waiting for it to arrive. And yes, I like a physical copy, not a digital copy.
