I mostly agree, but Rory's eagle 2 was perfect for the "back back back gone!"

This tournament would be insane if we took the name McIlroy out.
There are nearly 20 players within 3 shots of 2nd place

Simply put. Rory is playing a different game than every other golfer in the world right now.
Just unreal.

And so humble and affable with media and fans, unlike another top golfer we know.

No doubt it would be a wild Sunday if you looked at the rest of the players chasing McIroy. I think today was a record for number of players shooting under par on Saturday at the US Open, and 20 players currently with scores under par. Should McIroy struggle and put up a score like 74 tommorrow, someone might be able to force a tie. I hope he holds it together though, that would be nice to see a guy go through what he did at Augusta on Sunday and come back and take the next major wire to wire.

Also, with the growth of golf over the past 10-15 years there are way more golfers that can win any tournament which makes it much tougher for Tiger to win.
Until he shows that he is remotely close to being back to where he was prior to the Thanksgiving incident I think it is very reasonable to question whether he would win again.

His leg will heal as will his brain and Nicklaus never had the raw talent that Tiger has.

I can't get into this tournament. Maybe it's the lack of Tiger, or that Rory is running away with it.

I am enjoying my Father's day today after a round of golf - watching this the US Open. Not a lot of drama, but it is a treat watching Rory go low in the US Open. I love how close his name is to Roy McAvoy from tin cup. Want to see a bunch of records broken today.
Tiger who?

Based on what?
Every report I have heard is that his knee will never be the same and will continue to get worse or at best stay at about the same level. It will never go back to 100%.

But he had more ability to win majors so that more than made up for the so-called talent discrepancy.

And we should know from the Canucks that there are more important things than talent to make a real winner!

Yup. I think more impressive than the 18 majors that Jack won, are the 19 runner-ups!

Haha did anyone else see how on the last couple holes there, Rory's dad was hangin' with Shane McMahon aka Shane-O Mac aka Vince McMahon's son? I was the perfect age for when he was involved in WWF, I laughed so hard when I saw him with poppa McIlroy. So random.
Good for Rory, that was awesome.

Nice call.
Really though....between his swing, his demeanor, and his confidence, this kid should be around for a long long time and near the top of every major for years to come...if he can avoid injury.

Rory winning seems to have been very popular - and probably the best thing that could have happened for the tour in Tiger's absence

Yes. Now Tiger just needs to get his game back together and a Rory-Tiger battle on a Sunday would get everyone interested.
