Speculation is Casey Janssen was placed on the 15 Day DL today, Jays have activated John Macdonald from the IR.
As for Nix versus E5, Nix is fairly solid at defense. While E5 is basically a DH.... I agree once Lawrie is healthy I would waive E5 and call up Lawrie.

Now that hockey season is over I turn my attention to baseball and this is around the time when the Jays start their fall from grace. It's been far too long since the Jays have had a competitive team and I just want those days back. I am still going to watch the Jays as much as I can though.

I updated whether they're high school players or college players. Basically all the college guys will sign for sure, and the high school players likely won't unless the $ makes sense.

I think MLB needs to do some kind of re-alignment or add more playoff teams. Toronto doesn't stand a chance to actually make the playoffs.

Yep, and then when their good players became free agents, they went to high payroll teams like Boston.
It's kind of BS where a team has to build for 5 or 6 years (meaning crap) so they might get one or two shots at possibly being the WC team before all the players get old enough to require elite calibre contracts.
It's not fair, especially when Minnesota is mediocre and has been for a decade and yet has made the playoffs almost every year, and most of the time the Jays have had a better team, despite finishing 3rd or 4th most of the time.

I hate how people are applauding Tampa Bay for their farm system. They sucked ass for the entire time the franchise was in existence. With all those high draft picks they finally get some talent to the major leagues to win some games. To me they fell into being a good time because of bad management.

Bautista messed up there, that's always the CF's ball.

Lind has 15 HR's, which is 12th in the entire league. He's also played 20-25 games less than the rest except Bautista (17)
Not bad.

Lind is hitting just like Bautista was earlier in the year. Although with Lind he has always shown an ability to drive the ball to all fields, which in theory should make him a better candidate to hit a few more home runs and post a better batting average. He had a terrible first half last year, but in the second half and the first half of this year he's right in line with his 2009 season. Nothing wrong with a guy who hits over 300, knocks 35 out of the park and gives you a 920+ OPS playing first base. Given what the Jays are spending on Lind and what the big boys pay their first baseman the Jays are getting value, even though Texeira and Gonzalez are two of the most productive hitters in the bigs.

Zach Stewart pitch f/x:
http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/...lb_tormlb_1%2F
Consistent speeds and release points (from other charts), with plenty of strikes and economical innings.
Pumped fastballs up early, 2nd and 3rd pitch strikes (led to plenty of outs) and the 4th/5th/6th pitches are nicely on the corners. Slider and changeup don't look great from a location standpoint but similar speeds and disparate breaks are promising.
I didn't see him pitch though, how'd he look? This looks like the data of a guy that won't beat himself but might get knocked around by better bats.

Thats how JP Ricardii got fired, every year he would say "well its harder to go to the post-season being were in the AL east...then TBay started grabbing Wc's."
If we had a 'HAPPY' Roy Halladay last year, we would have been in the playoffs. If we had kept Shawn Marcum, I think we would be there this year. But, Im thrilled with this team, lets keep stock-piling young players, Bautista and Lind are the real deal, a few pieces around them and this team is set for the next 5 years.

Apparently Snider, hitting .500 in his last 9 games, got beaned in the head yesterday in Vegas, played on for an inning or so and was removed from the game.
You've gotta start to question the wisdom of letting guys play down in Vegas who are hitting the way Lawrie, Snider and co have been. I know it took some time for him to come around for Snider but this could be another pretty tough timed injury for a Jays blue chipper.
The development of AAA / borderline MLB players this year has been nothing short of disasterous. It's nice to see the system continue to get stocked but E5, Rivera and Nix taking roster spots and ABs while Snider and Lawrie get body parts broken by angry / wild triple A pitching is sad stuff.

Yeah, but everyone knows that Lawrie was being held there to keep him from being in the Super 2 group. What are you going to do in that case, bench him for a few days? It's an unfortunate injury, but you're trying to set things up so you have an ultra productive hitter at a low rate a few years down the road when you are a real contender. As for Snider, it's only been the recent games where he's starting to get his stroke back, and who would he be displacing in the outfield these days? It's not like Triple A is a bunch of backwoods punks who plunk guys in the head on a daily basis. These is more of fluke co-incidence than anything.
