Yeah Maver hasn't been practicing much the last bunch of days based on what I have read. I still question his leg strength and it wouldn't surprise me that if he struggles early in the year to see Huf bring in another kicker.

I heard Maver came into camp in great shape, sounds like his leg soreness is basically from a long camp.
I bet Maver is going to have a really good season.

Saw Tony Washington at Market Mall today, said hi and wished him luck on the season, he was surprised i knew who he was and seemed genuinly thankful for my good wishes. from the very small time we spoke he seemed really nice and really happy to have been given this chance. Excited to see what he can do on the field. For those judging him on his past, im really sorry i think this guy deserves a chance and will prove you guys wrong.

Anyone who objects to this I would ask that you at least read the full story of this guy before you judge him. After that if you still object to the signing that is well within your rights.

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel has announced that the club has completed a trade with the Edmonton Eskimos, sending import offensive lineman Junius Coston to Edmonton in return for future considerations.
Coston was signed as a free agent by the Stampeders on May 18 and had been in training camp with Calgary for the past two weeks.

Gachette released, so Sinopoli is No. 3 QB
Three black jerseys are better than four if you happen to be Brad Sinopoli.
The Calgary Stampeders released quarterback Steven Gachette, meaning that there were three gents in black smocks slinging balls Saturday, meaning that Sinopoli -ta da -is suddenly the No. 3 man.
Dickenson, two weeks into main camp, is asked to detail Sinopoli's strengths. He doesn't hesitate.
"His arm," said Dickenson. "He's got a big arm, a real big arm. He makes some really nice throws. And he's smart, too. We've added a lot of (offensive options) and he seems to pick it up. He knows where to go with the ball. Now it's about accuracy and understanding defences. You know, blitz defences and a lot of different looks."
NOTES: Also released -DL Andre Coleman, DL Maxwell Onyegbule, R Tyrone Collins . . . Making room for OL Tony Washington, the Stamps traded OL Junius Coston to the Edmonton Eskimos for future considerations . . . Because of injury, R Arjei Franklin and DL Osie Ukwuoma did not practise . . . Calgary Colts K Andrew Fabian joined the Stamps for both of Saturday's sessions.

very happy to hear that, good for the kid, hopefully he is a starter in the league down the road (still got a long way to go, but this is a good sign)

How many of the starters will play on Friday do you think? I can get a couple of free tickets, but I dunno if it's worth the drive up to Edmonton for a preseason game.

Stamps chop a few more players today...
The Stamps did some early roster trimming on Wednesday, cutting two running backs — Rafael Little and sixth-round draft pick Jared Manchulenko — along with defensive back Raymond Brown and receiver Dudley Guice. None of those releases would come as a surprise. Little had been overtaken by LaMarcus Coker during camp, and with Coker being used on returns (not looking all that comfortable, mind you), it spelled Little’s demise. Manchulenko was game, but not quite there for the professional level, while Guice simply didn’t show a dependable set of hands.

Significant players will NOT dress tonight.

kicker Rob Maver, offensive linemen Edwin Harrison, Jon Gott and Dimitri Tsoumpas, receivers Jabari Arthur and Arjei Franklin, defensive back Demetrice Morley and defensive lineman Ian DeGannes-Shaw — the Stamps had to make a few other judgement calls because there simply isn’t enough room in the visitors’ locker-room at Commonwealth Stadium to fit the entire training camp roster.
One decision was made easier: returner Larry Taylor flew back to Florida earlier this week to be with his wife, who’s due to give birth. That opens the door for the likes of Deon Murphy, Landan Talley, LaMarcus Coker and Anthony Parker to strut their stuff on returns.
The Stamps will also leave long-snapper Randy Chevrier at home. He has nothing to prove tomorrow night, so it’s a chance to give Tim St. Pierre and Rob Cote a chance to snap on special teams in game situations.
Also sitting out is defensive lineman Corey Mace (no point pushing the envelope as he comes back from off-season back surgery) and defensive back Saleem Borhot (a victim of the numbers game, and a possible indicator that he will be one of the players who doesn’t survive Saturday’s final round of cuts.
The most excited man at McMahon Stadium on Thursday was, beyond a doubt, Calgary Colts kicker Andrew Fabian. Just over a week ago, he was helping get the seeding done at his family’s 800-acre grain farm outside of Tilley when he got the call from Stamps’ director of player personnel John Murphy, asking if he could fill a void left in camp by Maver’s leg injury.
Now, he’ll be kicking on national television tomorrow night in a 60,000-seat stadium. Not bad for a 20-year-old.

Bender is a shocker. I thought we'd keep him around. But he played in a run happy offence all hi college career so transition to pass happy was gonna be difficult.
