anyone been recently (to the Harry Hayes location)? Are the lineups still nuts? My wife is thinking of heading down there for about 9am.

went there at about 11:30 on friday, about 10 minutes in sorting line and another 30 in the actual who you're supposed to see line.
right at noon though, there seemed to be a "lunch rush"?

I haven't been there recently, but I can't imagine any kind of significant lineup.
Last time I was there, I just walked up to the counter directly, pretty much.

I did a passport renewal last week. In and out in exactly 20 minutes and picking it up next week (I paid $10 more for this).
For a full passport, no clue- but I've heard the south office is a better choice.

thx for the responses, my wife is taking our not-always-cooperative 2 year old with her. Wanted to make sure it still isn't the shat show it used to be.

Don't know if it is too late. But going to the one down in Midnapore is way quicker, and way better for parking. It is a no brainer for me as I live in the south, but I know a lot of people that will drive an extra 20 minutes to go there, as opposed to deal with downtown traffic, parking, and the Harry Hays builing in general.
Both time I have been in there, I have been in and out in 15 minutes.

If you're travelling within 6 weeks, they advise you to not use a Service Canada office. It's basically the same turn-around time as if you mailed it in because they don't pre-review the application like they do at a passport office to ensure everything you're submitting is good.

Smart choice - I thought it was stupid how you had to pay $10 to go out of your way to pick it up.

I changed my tune once Canada Post couldn't figure out where my Passport went after I got my delivery notice. I had to harassed their hot-line for a couple of days before they figured out that the package was actually in the correct distribution center but someone had inputted the wrong tracking number into their system.

Went downtown about a month ago...45 minutes from start to finish, and that's with a party of 7 taking up one agent's time the whole time I was there.

The office down south opens at 8:30. I was there for open and was in and out in 10 mins.
I paid the extra $10 to pick up downtown. It opens at 7:30. I was there for open and was in and out in 5 mins.

This was within 2 weeks ago.

I used the south office to have a passport renewed. Took in my documents and passport photo and was out in under 10 minutes.
