Default Todays IPSOS REID Political Poll

another poll I took part in...heres what they are asking. Visible Minorities appears to be the next issue under the microscope.

Thinking of how you feel right now, if a FEDERAL election were held tomorrow, which of the following parties' candidates would you, yourself, be most likely to support or are leaning towards?

The Liberal Party
The New Democratic Party (NDP)
The Conservative Party

The Green Party
Or some other party
Would not vote/None/Would spoil ballot

Don't know

And, now some questions about immigration and minority groups in Canada...

Currently, Canada accepts about 225,000 immigrants each year. In your view, is this number...

Too low
Too high
About right
Don't know

Overall, would you say that immigrants have a good or bad influence on the way things are going in Canada?

Very good influence
Somewhat good influence

Somewhat bad influence

Very bad influence

Don't know

Do you think immigrants coming to Canada today mostly...

Create new jobs for themselves
Take jobs that Canadians don't want

Take away jobs from Canadians
Don't know

Do you strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, or strongly disagree with each of the following statements?

Canada's multicultural make-up is one of the best things about this country
Racism is a major problem in Canada today

It is better for Canada to have a variety of people with different religions
It is better for Canada if almost everyone shares the same customs and traditions
Members of certain ethnic minorities in Canada tend to vote as a block for specific parties or candidates
Members of certain ethnic groups are being unfairly stereotyped and blamed for gun crime and violence in our cities

I'd be more likely to vote for a political candidate who shares my ethnic or religious background

Which federal political party and leader best understands the issues facing Canada's immigrants and minority groups?

Jack Layton and the NDP
Stephen Harper and the Conservatives
Paul Martin and the Liberals

Overall, what do you think should be the higher priority for Canada?
To encourage minority groups to try to change to be more like most Canadians.
To encourage Canadians as a whole to try and accept minority groups and their customs and languages.

Were you born in Canada or did you move to Canada from another country?
Born in Canada
Moved to Canada from another country

Are you a member of a visible minority community?
Yes
No

Results will be broadcast on Global TV on Tuesday night and appear in
the CanWest newspapers across the country on Wednesday morning.
