Default 'Sarah Palin is nuts' - Palin denied meeting with Margaret Thatcher

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011...-palin-meeting
Quote:
The US conservative right reacted furiously after the Guardian reported that Thatcher's aides had decided it would be inappropriate for her to meet Palin, who is planning to visit London next month en route to Sudan.
Quote:
One Thatcher ally told the Guardian: "Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts."
Quote:
"Palin's nutsiness is not a partisan matter in Britain, or anywhere else in the world. It is an obvious truth marvelled at by all. Palin's emergence as a serious figure in American politics has made the country a laughing stock across the world"
Absolutely hysterical. Further evidence of what a complete joke this woman is.

On the flip side it is also frightening that she is taken somewhat seriously in the United States. How can someone that is so inarticulate and politically ignorant actually garner support? I don't believe she is a legitimate threat in 2012 but the fact that she is a threat at all is a testament to the sad state of affairs in the United States at the moment.

I think it's more of a reflection of what a complete joke the entire right in the United States is, and just how scary it is to see as an outsider.

I'd suggest that the fact Obama is President is a much more telling testament to the sad state of affairs in the US at the moment.

Not even close to being a reflection of the right in this country. She also isn't really taken serious by a lot of us either.

Nevertheless, she is still taken seriously by more than enough in the United States to make it a scary thing for those of us in the rest of the world to see.

I asked a question as to what was wrong with Sarah Palin on another forum I visit. Let's see if I can dig it up....

http://www.wordforge.net/showthread.php?t=84744

It seems it's mostly her presentation that people find offensive, and not many of the ideas themselves.

What ideas? She is incapable of forming an original thought of her own. Her entire shtick is to repeat a couple of the same talking points about patriotism, the right to bear arms, the founding fathers, and the constitution (which she doesn't even understand) regardless of whatever topic is being discused.

Even right-wing partisan commentators like Bill O'Reilly and Andrew Sullivan have called her out on her vapidness.

She doesn't have the proper knowledge base to form ideas. She doesn't understand basic concepts. She's too stupid for office, that's really all it comes down to.

well i find the mocking of Palin (and Bush still) to be more cliche and "en vogue" then to be of any substance really.

now sure, those astute political followers have been given plenty of ammunition by these types, but i find it comical how people who have no idea about politics think it makes them look cool to bash Bush (and now Palin) like they have any clue about the actual politics involved.

anyhow, doesnt it take a special kind of genius to be an idiot and rise the level of President of the USA (or in Palin's case running mate).

I'd suggest that anyone who prefers Sarah Palin over Barack Obama as President needs their head examined. Palin is a person with a legitimately low intelligence. Not low for a Governor, not low for a Politician, not inarticulate but sharp, just a brick. As George Bluth would say "She's just a turd out there, just a turd."

Obama is competent. He understands complex concepts. He knows his history and he knows the dynamics of domestic and world politics. These all sound like things that every politician show have an understanding of, but Palin does not. She knows nothing, she's educated in nothing. I would say a sizable portion of this board are more competent than Palin and would make for a better President.

Listen to her interviews. She just spouts out random things she's heard related to the question. She has no understanding of what she's saying. Every question she's ever been asked is like this. She talked about being close to Russia as her foreign policy experience. You can't have honestly deluded yourself into thinking she's just inarticulate. I don't see how the concept of her as President doesn't make people legitimately afraid.

like i said, i think its cliche to say she is stupid. she may very well be, but it must take a special kind of stupid to be a legit contender for that kind of work.

It's not a cliche. That's not what cliche means. You'd be surprised what's available to you if you just go after it. She's ambitious, attractive, and has good people skills. That can take you far. She clearly does not understand complex concepts though.
