Being fired is usually considered an extraordinary event, although perhaps not for you.

Awesome spin doctoring, but the event in discussion wasn't her firing - it was her silly protest. The firing was a consequence of the event as she betrayed the public trust in the position she filled.

And again, my point is that you said she went to "extraordinary lengths" which she did not. She went to low effort, ordinary lengths to bring about an extraordinary event. Nothing special ... except the forum of which she has absolutely no responsibility for except for taking advantage of her position - zero effort. There were no "extraordinary lengths" taken. Period.

How is an extraordinary event when she was going to lose her job in 3 weeks anyway?

And, in all honesty, she was basically quitting.

If I walked into my bosses office and took a big steaming dump on his desk, and had a pre-written press release sent out at the same time, I'm pretty sure it is disingenuous for me to cry about being fired shortly thereafter. Not that I've heard her crying per se - I think she got exactly what she wanted - "fired" and tons of publicity to continue spouting her inane drivel.

Funny, I never heard one word of her during the actual, you know, election. If she really wanted to "Stop Harper" what was she doing during the election campaign?

There's considerable difference between being summarily fired and completion of a contract.

Well, you got me there. Maybe she normally hides stuff up her skirt.

There's a difference between getting fired, and quitting a job you've already lost.

Just as there's a difference between completing a contract and not completing a contract. Good catch!

I suspect it's no more difficult than stuffing something into your pants - not having experience wearing skirts and all.

Hahaha. Are you? I just wanted to point out that your defense of free speech is very selective... I don't really care whom you copulate with or whom you marry... as long as Reign in Blood is performed at the reception.

Alright, different example. The level of harm caused by reporting Columbine, even without explicitly "giving a platform" to the killers was significantly higher than anything that's happened as a result of talking to this girl.

I don't think that is what he was going for at all. Pretty sure no one cares that you are gay.

I'm actually not. It's that Vlad seems to have issues with homosexual rights and doesn't like to be called a bigot.

That's exactly it. Or that my cat is smarter than you.

Harper is flying to Boston on a government jet to cheer on the Canucks in Game 4. I'm sure he paid for the game tickets himself, but what about his travel and security expenses? No doubt that's not cheap. I'll keep this in mind the next time he talks about eliminating wasteful government spending.

I agree with you...but let me just get this out of the way - "Remember that time when (fill in the blank of the Liberal here) attended that (fill in name of event) and cheered for (try to find an example of something more distasteful than the Canucks...good luck!)."

Its a complete waste of taxpayers money.

Every Canadian PM has been at the SC Finals when a Canadian team was involved as long as I've been watching... No?

It is a waste and misuse of his position. Not nearly as bad as what Mulroney used to do when he would travel to places on the government dime so that he could pamper his wife and his spoiled rotten kid.

This is about a big of a "meh" as I can imagine.

Are PM's supposd to stop going to hockey games because they are...PM's?

Unless of course he is only supposed to attend in Ottawa or calgary as that is where he resides.

What bothers me more is that he will be cheering for Vancouver....just disgraceful.

Why fly to Boston, though? Why not fly to Vancouver to do some government business in BC and attend Game 5 as part of the trip? That would be a perfectly valid use of his travel budget. From that article, it sounds like he's taking a private government jet to Boston, watching the game, then flying home the same day. It's a completely inappropriate waste of taxpayer money.
