Default Tiger Wooods withdraws from the US Open...but the rest are there!

Just tweeted it to everyone...something really wrong with his achilles and/or knee is my guess.

I wonder what the line is on him ever winning another major.

I'm disappointed to hear this. I still like Tiger despite his personal problems. Golf is what it is today because of him, and I hope he can make a full recovery eventually. What a fall from grace he's had.

Mike Weir didn't qualify as well. this US Open will definitely have a different feel to it.

I read today that Mike Weir won't be playing in the British Open either, and that his streak of 13 consecutive Opens was the second longest currently, behind Vijay Singh. Pretty impressive.

Scary hard golf course is Congressional...and now that things are drying out after a morning rain, things are getting frakin ugly. Mickelson is stickhandling down some holes, others are ridiculously high scores...should be a beauty tourney.

Scores...

Wow Charl Schwartzel hanging around that leaderboard again. He played some of the most impressive golf in recent memory to take the Masters. Hopefully it's a competitive tourney with a Sunday like they had at Augusta.

Rory is lapping the field right now.

-10 with 9 to play...next is Zach Johnson at -4. A 6 shot lead after 27 holes?? Unheard of.

Mickelson ripping it up as well, but he was so far back from the lead he is a non factor rigght now.

Lowest score all time in a US open is -12. He just birdied to go -11.

Rory to -13, ten strokes clear of 2nd place, one hole to go.

Unbelievable golf, I hope to God he keeps that lead all weekend.

It is going to be crazy seeing McIlroy shoot 92 on Sunday.

Rory doubles 18 and still sets the 36 hole scoring record. Leads by 8 right now.

Last night they showed him and he made a comment like "I like the feeling of the first round of a major obviously, but hopefully i can carry it through the weekend!"

Hard not to cheer for him really. Seems really down to earth.

Cris Berman doing golf is absolutely painful. He's horrible at the best of times, but his forced jokes and general overall stupidity is really pronounced with golf.

I for one would like to know..people who think he won't are nuts.

Even the great JN went 2 years without one in his prime and then won 6 more at 35+ years of age. Tiger has way too much talent not to win a few more.

Did Nicklaus have the mental and physical problems that Tiger has?

Also, with the growth of golf over the past 10-15 years there are way more golfers that can win any tournament which makes it much tougher for Tiger to win.

Until he shows that he is remotely close to being back to where he was prior to the Thanksgiving incident I think it is very reasonable to question whether he would win again.

The course looks soft and not too difficult (for US Open standards). Lets see if anyone can make a move.
