She did not break any law, she was merely fired. Apparently there's no non-disclosure clause because other current and former pages are commenting in public.
At 21 years of age, she's old enough to sling a rifle across her shoulders, go overseas and get her head blown off. She should certainly be allowed to talk to the media.
Part of this whole democracy thing that you apparently find so distasteful is the rights of those with whom you don't agree with to have their 15 minutes.

So give the specifics - Dumbass student (replace with name) interrupted a session today blah blah. When questioned about her motives he/she was unable to provide any blah blah. End story.

But that can't happen because our media is of low quality

Wanting reporters to separate news from fluff = democracy hater.
Gotcha.

LOL, okay.
You realize Senators were tweeting the incident too? Twitter is media.

Actually, it was news. It was something outside of what normally transpires in the Canadian Senate. If Stephen Harper stood behind the Governor General waving pom-poms during the Throne Speech, that would be news too.
It was some political theatre by a non-elected person in a venue full of non-elected people. It was unusual, and it was news.

stuff

I am not really sure why this is such a difficult concept for you - by asking questions with depth there are two outcomes:
1 - She can answer and comes off looking like a star
2 - She can't answer and the whole incident fades to black
This is in fact quite opposite of wanting somebody "arbitrarily muzzled" - it is a request for more information. Either she can provide or she can't. Our media, unfortunately is quite content with fluff.

NONSENSE.
The big, bad ol' "Media" is hardly the behemoth hegemony you imagine. We live in a Wikileaks time of vast, unfettered access to facts and opinions of every various stripe and measure of quality.
Anyone with a Twitter, Facebook or Blogspot account is "media."
DePape in fact has largely (and deservedly) raked over the coals by the pundits, all the while accomodating all manner of interview requests. She has also recieved various job offers from advocacy groups and a world-famous director. Seems like she's managing the fall-out just fine.

Fine - I will qualify "media" just for you next time...

Perhaps this is just how we choose to frame the incident but I see

By the way, I never once stated a concern for her ability to "manage the fall-out".

A green party horseface got her time in the sun, what is the big deal. That is what people who cannot debate/win an issue do - they preform stunts. They throw pies, attach themselves to trees, grafitti rail cars and overpasses etc etc etc.
Michael Moore supports it, thats all you need to know about this incident.

Yeah, she should just do what everyone else does on Parliament Hill to get attention and hire a $30,000/month lobbyist.

Since the incident was a Trending Topic on Twitter all weekend, I'd say the coverage was warranted. Curious bunch, those Canadians.

I'm not Harper supporter, but the whole message she was sending of "stopping" Harper just weeks after he was democratically elected (to a majority at that), is just plain stupid and insulting. Your side lost, now time move on. At least let the guy do something before you say that you want him stopped. Stopping someone before they eff up is not in the democratic spirit.
Having said that, I don't think they should have fired this girl unless she pulled it again. By allowing her to sacrifice something, it gives the action more magnitude. If they let her come back to work the next day like nothing happened, she would have looked (and probably felt) like an idiot.

Oh no, she definitely deserved to be fired. I in no way support her actions.
I'm just having a big laugh at the expense of those who think the incident should not have been reported or that DePape shouldn't be interviewed.

I am curious what his reaction would have been if she was protesting something else... oh, say gay marriage - I am sure Reggie would have been benevolently chuckling...

No, I would still laugh at those who blame the media for reporting the news.
You do realize Stephen Harper led a large (and widely reported at the time) anti-gay marriage rally on Parliament Hill?
