Update: Flyers Add Marian Hossa

To Philadelphia: Marian Hossa, 2012 2nd (TBD), cold cash
To Atlanta: Marcus Johansson, Guilleme Lattendresse, Calvin De Haan, La 1st 2011

I overpaid a bit but with a new GM I didn't want the hassle of a deal being rejected and trying again. Hossa is a proven performer and excited to add him.

Atlanta gets some high potential player and kickstarts his re-build. Good luck to all the players involved.

good deal for both team. Lattendresse is a risk after the season he just had but some great prospects headed to atl.

Good job by both GMs!

Lattendresse was just a prospect with the world in front of him when he was drafted by the Hurricanes. Now that I moved on he's being traded around the league like a cheap whore

Any trade that makes the South East worse for next year is good for me.

You should have known when you traded Latendresse to me that it wouldn't be long that he would be whored all over the league!

Update: Couple more Flyer deals

To Philadelphia: SJ 1st 2011, Chris Campoli, Erik Gustafsson
To ColumbusL Dan Hamhuis

Another cost cutting move I got couple pieces I like, especially Gustafsson. He's a guy I'd wanted when Dallas signed him as a UFA. Offensively gifted and will get a shot to make the NHL flyers this upcoming year. Campoli is also a decent 3rd pair dman. 1st round picks always help.

To Philadelphia: Det 1st 2012, Kevin Hayes, Riley Sheahan
To San Jose: Dennis Wideman, Removal of Flyers getting 2012 2nd condition

I only bought Wideman to trade him and I think this works out as I get 3 first rounders for him. Hayes and Sheahan are both developing in the NCAA and Detroit 1st should be a top overall pick next year.

Still looking to move Mark Streit, come get him.

Getting good value out of your moves...guys are surprisingly willing to pay a lot. The Wideman deal seems to favour Philly IMO, especially with the DET 1st Round pick. The Hamhuis deal is pretty good...way better than I could offer.

The CBJ 1st on the other hand...

Off-season Status: Team shaping up

Cam Ward wins the Vernon as the top goalie in the league.

"I came over half way through the year, the team in front of me was way better then what I had in Calgary and I was glad to get out of Calgary and the Cheese factory. Go Philly. Said Cam Ward in his acceptance speech.

Joe Schum wins the Fletcher as the top GM this year

Honestly, this award is as good as the Stanley Cup. In the sim I lost a tough game 7 in the East final, sim randomness or not but this was majority of the GMs saying that I did all I could to get the Cup and I really appreciate that.

Jeff Carter, Mark Streit, Cam Ward make All-Star team

Very deserving accolades for this trio. Unfortunately Jeff Carter was not in Philly to accept his bonus but Cam Ward and Mark Streit both got 500K bonus for their stellar performance over the year.

The Current Roster:

It's taken time but the Flyers have dealt away all the player I wanted to. They were moved all over the league. Current roster looks something like this as we head towards the draft.

Centermen
I have four guys I like quite a bit in Ryan Getzlaf, Mikko Koivu, Brandon Dubinsky and Kyle Brodziak. This will very likely be the opening day down the middle lineup.

Wings
Marian Hossa, the recently acquired, is the only one slotted to play in the top 6 currently. I am looking to pick up 3 more highly rated wingers and I'll need cap with them. In the bottom 6 are defensively responsible yet offensive winger in RJ Umberger, Nikloi Kulemin, Blake Wheeler and Max Talbot.

Defencemen
The top 3 defencemen from last year are being brought back in Chris Pronger, Ryan Suter and 2nd team All-Star Mark Streit. Joining them in the top 4 is Brent Burns. Chris Campoli, I am looking to upgrade him and acquire another top 4 dman.

Goalies
Reigning Vernon winner Cam Ward will be back and so will Jonas Gustavsson who played a nice role as the backup last year.

Tradable assets:
Oliver Ekman-Larsson (6th overall pick, played partially with Coyotes last year) - GONE
Peter Holland (15th overall pick, turned pro and put up 6 points in 3 AHL games last year) - GONE
David Rundblad (17th overall pick, HF prospect of the year) - GONE
Riley Sheahan (21st overall, productive year in the NCAA)
Kevin Hayes (24th overall, injury hurt his season, otherwise was suppose to be on US WJ team)
Brock Nelson (30th overall pick, 0.5 ppg in NCAA, part of US WJ team last year)
Everyone on the AHL squad besides Keith Kinkain and Anton Khudobin.
16th, 20th, 30th the 3 first rounders in the 2011 draft.

Update: Flyers find another top liner

To Philadelphia: Loui Eriksson, NYI 2012 2nd, Dal 2012 2nd, cold cash
To LA: Blake Wheeler, David Rundblad, Peter Holland, Cal 1st 2011, SJ 1st 2011

This now completes Getzlaf's new line, he will start the year with Eriksson and Hossa on his wings. Paid a hefty price but thats why I gathered all those assets to trade them in order to bring in top liners. Still need 2 more big time winger, lotsa youth still available.

Yeah, thats true but one can take over a loaded team late into the season and win the championship. Not much of an accomplishment then is it?
