And I apologize for my signature. Although perhaps humorous in the right context, it is totally inappropriate in a thread such as this. This is not me trying to be snarky. I am being sincere.

No, I think that's a pretty normal human reaction. I don't think I have the right to torture people who do things like that, but I sure as hell hope such a thing happens to them, because a defenseless child was seriously assaulted. I don't think you can parlay that into wanting to abuse a child.
This is an extremely disturbing story.

I wonder how bad our justice system will #### this up. Atleast from the sounds of it, he's a career criminal so he should get some sort of jail time....but it'll never be enough for this POS.

This is a situation where I wish we had the death penalty. Some people seriously need some killing.

Honestly being killed is way to easy of a way out... He deserves to suffer.

I realize that is a very popular point of view in this thread, and I get why, but I don't really agree.
He deserves to be removed from humanity - permanently. Bullet to the head, one less sicko around.

A bullet is way to easy of an exit. This guy should be made to suffer.

I don't get any gratification from his suffering. I'd just be happy knowing that there is absolutely zero chance that he can hurt anyone else. For me, it isn't about punishment, it's about prevention. If he lived every day of his remaining life in prison, it is just a waste of taxpayer money for someone who doesn't deserve the privilege of being supported by the rest of the country.

I'm convinced that sex based offenders like child molesters (pedophiles) and rapists can't be cured no matter what they do. It would be like telling homosexuals not to be gay (And don't be stupid and read that I'm comparing homosexuals to these criminals), its their sexual nature and they're wired to those acts.
I honestly think that Child Molesters like this should automatically get life without parole at all with no special considerations such as segregation or protective custody.
I also think that if there's an area where there should be a Canadian Version of the Three Strikes rule its with violent offenders.
This crime is sickening, there's no defense for it, there's no justification for it.
The angry Captain Crunch thinks that the punishment should involve an hour alone with the baby's father.

Does rape/murder even really happen within our prison system very often? Rarely do you hear about murder within the jails, and you never hear about rapes on the news. I wonder how common it actually is amongst this type of prisoner.

Very good point.
You often see people comment on how they think someone is going to get murdered in prison for something they did..however I dont really recall hearing it actually happen, if at all.
In Canada most criminals are going to get out at some point, so perhaps thats why they dont commit more crimes in jail?

Since Clifford Olsen is still alive after 30 years, I wouldn't get your hopes up for any prison yard justice.

There are plenty of reasons that prison murders don't get a lot of media attention...the main reasons being that prisons don't want to draw undue attention to themselves for investigations, audits, and lawsuits for any safety and security lapses that may have contributed to the murder.

To add on to my previous post: I have a feeling that many times, prison murders get classified creatively...a stabbing to the heart or major arteries might get classified as a "heart attack", or lethal beatings might get classified as "strokes" or "aneurysms".

Wow, I just read the wikipedia on Olsen....how is this guy still alive? How did he ever even make it through the trial process without getting shanked or something? Must be an isolation is all I can figure.
