I did my first spin class tuesday and had lacrosse game last night I found myself at 180 10 lbs down from when I started may 1st. This morning I got the neck top button of a dress shirt done up that I have never been able to do up in the year or so I have had the shirt. Hopefully going to spin again tonight and will wake up down a lot more want to get to 165
am having a b***h of a time with the final 10lbs of my weight loss.
I've tried everything. Changed my work out routine, increased my calories, reduced my calories.
I've dropped another pant size but I am just not dropping the weight.
ARGGGHHH, I hate plateaus!
Am all ears..any suggestions?

If you dropped a pant size but stayed at the same weight that just means you're building muscle, which is nothing to be disappointed about.

fair enough and I agree thats good.
I'm just chasing that elusive "one"derful.
I've been in the 200's for as long as I can remember and I have this thing in my head that says I'd like to see a one ninety something.
Are you absolutely sure you NEED to drop the last 10 pounds?
If you are dropping a pants size, you are likely reducing mid-rift fat, and if you are staying the same weight it is being re-distrubuted elsewhere, possibly as lean tissue. People concentrate on that weight number when better numbers to look at are waist size and body fat percentage.
Does anyone know a good ACCURATE way to measure body fat besides calipers? I can't use the calipers because after losing 170 pounds, you are left with a lot of loose skin, particularly around the belly area, so it throws off the measurement. I bought a $250 scale that uses bioelectrical impedance to estimate body fat percentage and it says 9%, but I don't believe it and several articles I have read doubt the science behind bioelectrical impedance. Is there a means to get a more accurate measure?
The next step would be to reduce your calories a bit more. Don't cut too drastically though, if you go too extreme it's easy to "relapse". If you have cheat meal every week, try to keep it contained to one meal. Don't let your cheat meal turn into a cheat day or cheat weekend, totally undoing the good progress you made during the week.

Are you playing Masters Lacrosse in Okotoks? I played my first Masters game in two years because of knee surgeries and now I am in this thread because I have gained 20lbs since last September. 3 surgeries and 1 month of radiation later I am fat and want to play lacrosse again but based on the pain in my knee Tuesday and Wednesday I have to give it another month yet.
Still looking for weight loss solutions and then the lacrosse will be easier on my knee come July.

Water displacement, ie. Hydrostatic body fat test:
Quote:
Why Hydrostatic Testing?
As body fat testing, rather than simple scale weight, has become "the standard" in this new millennium, Hydrostatic Testing (Underwater Weighing) has become universally regarded by industry experts as the "Gold Standard" in body fat testing. Renowned author and fitness expert Covert Bailey, in the phenomenal best seller "Fit or Fat", states: "That hydrostatic testing (underwater immersion) is the most accurate method for body fat determination."
Bumping this too the top to see how everyone is making out and to brag a little!
I had my weigh in this morning and am currently sitting at 30 lbs lost! That is thrilling! I still have a long ways to go, but 30 is a pretty major milestone!
way to go smyth! as of this morning i have lost 43 lbs. i celebrated pretty hard on may long and wound up taking a tumble down some steps whilst drunk... but no damage done outside some bruising
we all have our milestones.. for me 40 was a big one due to some bets i made, but the next big one will be 60. in all i want to drop down another 80 from here... but im focusing on day to day and week to week results, not worrying about the big # (as not to get discouraged)

ya, I've tried that as well.
I think my caloric intake is about as low as I want it to be. I'm currently at 1850 and they (and dont ask me who "they" are, cause its all research stuff) suggest a man, my age, shouldn't go below 1800 calories.
Now sometimes my net calories are 1200-1600 because of my work outs but I try to eat most of my calories back.
I dunno, maybe its a psychological thing because of this goal that I want to reach.
I'm 47, I currently weigh 205 and I have a waist size of 34. Maybe thats good enough? Not sure if I am happy with it or not.
Still learning to live and understand my "new look".

Nope I am far to young for masters. I am playing sr B. Lacrosse is perfect for HIIT training since I am on the floor running hard 30-60 seconds take 30-60 second break on bench then I am back on the floor. 175 is my next big step down. Once I see my scale hit the 70's it is going to be exciting. Can't wait to fit into all of my size 32 swim wear/ summer shorts!
I'm pretty mad that I gained three pounds after being injured for two weeks with a mini concussion and a neck injury (don't head a long range soccer ball with the wrong side of the head).
Today will be the third day exercising and the body is aching for a lot more exercises!

Have you tried interval training? Do you lift weights? Maybe go until failure at the end of your workouts with something that really burns.
