Zip-line tour was so much fun. We spent a day doing the zipline, another day horse back riding to the base of a volcano. I found out I was allergic to horses that day, so I had to ride on the tractor. Although, volcanic mud did wonders for my hives.

As much as I love Hawaii, I think it's out because I've been there a few times now and I was hoping for something new.

And New Zealand would be absolutely awesome, but I feel like it would be a waste to only be there for a 5-6 days.....

Curacao sounds interesting. And Costa Rica is always an option. Any particular hotels that you stayed at?

Tofino isn't far away and usually has awesome weather in August. Kayaking trips between BC islands is amazing and there's lots of rainforest to see.

Whales and dolphins can often be seen there as well. Very nice resorts and very good surfing as well.

Plus, you don't have to spend a ton of time on a plane.

I really enjoyed Costa Rica as well. I can't speak for the resorts, as I was staying in the cheapest hovels I could find, but the country was great. Had some great outdoorsy activities around Arenal/Monteverde, hung out at a few places on the Pacific side and took it super easy on the Caribbean side.

I even caught amoebic dystentery there and would still go back.

I should mention I live on the east coast.

BC is kind of a neat idea though....we were there just a few weeks ago, and it rained the entire time, so we never really got a chance to go out in to nature. I think my gf has her heart set out on some beach/sun, but I like the idea...

Mrs. undergrad and I went on a 10 day Southern Caribbean Cruise for our honeymoon and loved every minute of it. So many things to do in port, and world class food in the evening. And they treat you like gold when your on your honeymoon! A balcony is a must too.

Whats the price range - Greece is a great suggestion but its not cheap there.

I personally would suggest Costa Rica - its awesome.

That or an island like St Lucia, St Maarten in the Carribean. Not really far away but.

Hoping to spend not any more than 3-4k for the whole trip. Seems like it should be doable for anything Carribean.

Really? I would have thought it would cheap as heck given they're essentially bankrupt.

I was there a while ago, but if they went in July/August that would be the "busy" season, where we stayed they had the hotel prices listed on the insides of the doors - it was almost 4X as much to stay in the same room in August as it did in March.

That and its very rare to find an inexpensive flight to Athens unless you try budget to UK then EasyJet/Ryan air but I assume on a Honey moon someone would rather not do that.

I hear great things about Curacao. It's just north of Venezuela, so it's far enough south to avoid hurricanes. Has nature and civilization. A big diving destination.

If you had more time, I'd recommend Vietnam. What a great place.

We did our honeymoon in Croatia last september (mostly Dubrovnik and Hvar), which was unbelievably awesome. But again, a long way to go for 7 days, but worth it for 10. The beaches are more rocky than sandy though.

Regarding hotels, always read the reviews in tripadvisor.

Table, since I know you're a driver, you should seriously consider Italy. You're in NYC, right? So you're only like a 6 hour flight from FUM. Go to Rome and start taking in the wonders of the Eternal City. Then rent a car (trust me, it's about the most fun a driver can have) and boot around town, and then down to Amalfi Coast. You'll get your beach on down there, and you'll also be super close to culinary awesomeness, plus wicked stuff like Pompeii, Ercolano, and Vesuvio.
Then drive back to Roma for more delicious food, and downright amazing historical, architectural, and cultural places of interest.
August is considered "low season" in Italy because it's just...hot. So you can actually find some pretty good deals on hotels and stuff during that month.

+1 for Italy and I'd also recommend the south of France and Spain.

Seriously, you are not far from there and there are ton of deals to be had. Also, you could get a Europass and do all three countries and take your time doing it.

IMO, Europe is the way to go.

Check out www.condor.com - it's been brought up in the YYC Travel post and they have great deals.

I love St Lucia and would return in a heartbeat. It has everything you're looking for - but it's hit by hurricanes pretty regularly. I'd recommend Aruba but for the slightly "tourist trap" nature of the island - easy to get away from. Given that, I'd recommend Curacao and/or Bonaire. I don't dive but Bonaire is reknowned for its diving - and the south Dutch islands only rarely get hit by hurricanes (Aruba twice since 1950 I think I heard). Bonaire is so quiet you wouldn't even know that people are really alive there (unless a cruise ship is in port).

I'd pick Curacao out of the three to return to if I had the choice.

Good luck and congrats on the wedding-to-be.

And don't leave the morning after your wedding. I did and it was a killer.

ETA: travel time is likely less than 8 hours depending on connections, so you're there the same afternoon you leave YYC.
I'm not sure how you can get to any of the Antilles in 8 hrs from Calgary. Don't the majority of flights leave in the am from Toronto or Miami, which would mean the red-eye to YYZ or otherwise.
