The Calgary Stampeders have acquired import receiver Reggie McNeal and non-import defensive tackle Adrian Davis from the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for import receiver P.K. Sam and non-import defensive lineman Miguel Robede

The teams also traded one player off each of their negotiation lists.
I like this trade. Robede is improving every season and won't be surprise if he gets better in TO with more minutes to play. Robede just can't get the starting minutes here because Stamps have way too many good DLinemen. As for PK Sam, I don't really care much about this guy. With Rambo back, he won't be playing much anyways and I expect the Stamps to cut him. He just didn't really fit in with the Stamps. I read McNeal will compete as a QB during the training camp and if he can't make it as QB, he will be playing receiver. Looking forward of the training camp soon.

That is amazing...a little dose of humility there! Big contract for a kicker and he couldnt live up to it!

Sandro DeAngelis released today. Not really shocking as he was really bad last year but was always clutch for the Stamps so you would have to think another team gives him a good look. It's too bad that he may have burned some bridges with the Stamps given Maver can't hit anything longer than 35 yards.

I expect Maver has been spending his off-season building up additional leg strength. He's got the right mental make up to be a great kicker.

Sandro's poor performance started his last season with the Stamps which is one of the reasons they were not heart broken about him walking - he was on the decline already. I wouldn't be surprised in fact if he's done in the CFL. A massive ego coupled with diminishing abilities does make for an attractive package.

Cheese, he doesn't seem to show too much humility in this article...comparing himself to Carey Price and making some excuses.

Boo hoo Sandro. LOL, boy I hope Huf doesnt even think about bringing him back.

“I’m a five-time all-star so it’s not like I forgot how to kick,” DeAngelis said in a phone interview just an hour after hearing from Ticats head coach Marcel Bellefeuille. “It just wasn’t my year last year. The disappointing part is this organization didn’t believe in me enough to give me the opportunity to prove it to them.

My, quote unquote, sub-par season at 76% really isn’t that bad,” he said. “I didn’t forget how to kick a football. I just had a lot of things on my plate. I was playing through injuries, a cross-country move, renovating a house, learning how to balance being a father, being a husband and learning to deal with the winds of Ivor Wynne, a new team, a new snapper, a new holder and I was a little bit overwhelmed at the beginning of the season and dug myself a pretty big hole.”

Jeez, ho humble pie in his hometown? and I like Sandro even after he left the Stamps.

List of excuses:
My, quote unquote, sub-par season at 76% really isn’t that bad
Injuries
A cross-country move
Renovating a house
Learning how to balance being a father
Being a husband
Learning to deal with the winds of Ivor Wynne
A new team, a new snapper
A new holder

Now thats taking the blame.

I think it's safe to say he won't be back. He burnt his bridges in Calgary. He'd probably get punched out by one of his teammates again.

LOL.

Strange time too be cut no? Sandro had a lot of talent and was a great kicker. He didn't lack confidence that's for sure, and was a good thing when it came to clutch kicks. He had a receivers personality but he was a kicker, rather strange mix. People used to crtisicze cope and nik, but sandro was just as bad.

Speaking of copeland and Lewis, brings back great memories of them calling out garbage Roy simon, and calling his superman pose gay.

He might have had a bonus clause in his contract that kicked in at the start of training camp...

Nice excuses Sandro, you were missing "malaria" and the "vernal equinox" as additional reasons. I like how the coach said he was unaware of any injuries.

Ego got in the way. Never had the leg, but had the accuracy. When he became bigger than he thought, with thoughts of NFL tryouts, his cocky attitude lead to losing the accuracy and became useless.

LOL at the Carey Price comparo, and thinking that he can still punt if only someone will let him; if he could've punted even 1 iota, the Stamps wouldn't have had to use two punters back in 07. Dales, and drag Duncan O'Mahony in from whatever pub he was sleeping at in 2007, to kick the handful of times he did.

I know that Sandro wasn't loved in the locker room but IMO the team missed the threat of being able to make the long field goal last year. Huff started punting in situations where he would have attempted field goals with Sandro. I'm not saying bring Sandro back but in training camp Maver better be able to consistently hit 40-45 yard distances or the team will really have to start looking at other options.

EDMONTON -- With 11 CFL seasons, nine with Edmonton and two Grey Cup rings to his credit, quarterback Jason Maas announced his retirement today.

Respected by his teammates and opponents for his strong leadership and fearless playing style, Maas was twice Edmonton’s nominee for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player Award (2001, ’04) and was a CFL All-Star in 2001.

The University of Oregon product earned a special place in club history in 2005 when he came off the bench in both the West – Semi Final and Final games to ignite the offence and engineer game winning drives, propelling the Esks to their 13th Grey Cup championship.

“Edmonton and the Eskimos gave me an opportunity to fulfill a dream of playing professional football," said Maas.

"To my many teammates, coaches, locker room staff and the many fans I met over the years, thank you for your support. This community welcomed me and my family and for that I am grateful.”

In 2004, Maas joined Hall of Famer Warren Moon as the second Eskimo quarterback to pass for 5,000+ yards in a season. He finished the ’04 campaign with career best numbers: 361 completions on 549 attempts (65.8%), 5,270 yards and 31 touchdowns, 79 carries for 252 yards rushing and 8 TDs.

Following the 2005 Grey Cup win, Maas was traded to Hamilton where he played for a season and half. Traded to Montreal in September 2007, he finished out the season with the Alouettes.

Maas returned to Edmonton in 2008.

It's about time Jason Maas retires. He wasn't doing anything in Edmonton and coaches just want to play Ricky Ray and whatever his name is. I think he was a dependable backup QB but never really panned out as a starter.

They Eskimos released Zabransky earlier this month.
According to their wikipedia page they have 4 QB's, Ray, Kirby, Mueller and Nichols.

It was simple answer for John Hufnagel when asked if had interest in bringing back his former kicker: No
Sandro DeAngelis is on the market now after being released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but don’t expect him to make a comeback with the Calgary Stampeders.
“I haven’t even thought about that,” Hufnagel said. “I’m pleased with the kicker we have. If we get ourselves in trouble, it could be a conversation in the future. I don’t foresee that happening.”
