LF: Recommendations on a lawn service guy who will actually SHOW UP!

I am pissed - Booked a guy off kijiji to come aerate, power rake, fertilize and rake and bag my lawn. Waited around all last Saturday and he never showed.

So I call another guy off kijiji - ptservices - Guy says he'll be here Sunday and call before he comes. It's now 1:30PM, he never called and when I try calling him it goes right to VM and his mailbox is full. I bet it's full of pissed off people like me waiting for the d*bag.

Sorry for the rant - I am looking for someone RELIABLE to come and aerate and power rake my yard, as well as apply some spring-mix fertilizer. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced service provider who might actually show up?

they are landscapers ....you know work for 3 months and then spend the other 9 months of the year on the Alberta Hunting Team

Last year against my better judgement I offered a couple a $100 to do a couple hours of yard work for me. They had a sob story about needing money. So I offered them a great deal. They would have probably made about $30 an hour.

They never showed up. I sent them two emails asking them where they were. She finally replies back and gets all snotty about me harassing her. She had more sob stories about her husband breaking his arm.

Stick with companies that have a few years track record and not just a free ad on Kijiji

I realize this isn't a business that (especially in Calgary) guys are making a career out of. it seems to be the same 20 power raking and aerating machines that get bought and sold on Kijiji and then guys short for cash buy them to try make money aerating / power raking...

I just can't believe guys will flat out tell you "I'll be there" and then they don't show. TWICE.

If anyone wants to PM me some contact info for a company that's decently priced and offers reliable service, I'd appreciate it. I am on broadcast hill in the SW.

Why not call one of the big companies instead of the kijiji guys?

If you've got access to a truck or flatbed, just rent both from Home Depot, should cost you like $40-50 for 4 hours for both machines. Split it between a few neighbors/family members and you're laughing.

How about hire a reputable company. I always laugh when people try to get the cheapest deal out there and then wonder why their work is terrible or they don't show at all, LOL. Go figure.

I rub into this all the time in my business. People will call and say "so and so didn't finish the job, or it was poorly done". Then I quote a price and they say "why is that double what the other guy quoted?". At that point there isn't much I can say. They are trying to base my price on some random hack out there that has no idea what they are going? People are so freaking stupid.

If you want good service you need to Pay for it people!!!

I am willing to pay for a good job, I just thought I'd get a better job done by a local pro for the same price as what I thought would be a hack job by green drop et al.

First hint, don't look in Kijiji. Sorry, but if some one says they looked in Kijiji for a service, pretty much anyone would think you are looking for bottom of the barrel cheep.

My aunt has been using a service fir about 10 years now. The problem is I am out of town so I will need to ask her the name next week some time if you are still looking at that time.
