To be honest, I don't think he did it, and if he did, I hope they cover it up. He's done more for society as a whole and our obsession with tearing down heroes makes me sick.

Have had many encounters with good ole Lance. I hope he is proven guilty. He is quite the douchbag.

While I agree with most of what you said, the FDA has no choice but to be investigating the matter.

From another piece:
Drugs in clinical trials are supposed to be tightly controlled. So it’s troubling to think that an athlete might somehow gain access to a product that’s not approved for human use, that’s purely experimental. But that is exactly what SI alleges Armstrong did.
I don’t know what kind of evidence they have to back that assertion up, but this story has been rumored to be in the works for weeks and has no doubt been subject to exhaustive fact-checking. SI is also owned by Time Warner, a company that Armstrong could own if they get this wrong. That’s the stakes here.
...
Why, goes one of Fabiani’s best lines, is the FDA of all people interested in some European bike races from a decade ago?
Well, the response now goes, because one of the most famous sportsmen of the last half-century stands accused of buying stocks of a tightly controlled investigational drug – manufactured by an American pharmaceutical company and intended for use only in clinical trial settings under the regulation of the FDA or its European counterparts and which is illegal to use for any other purpose, or even for a private citizen to possess, much less transport internationally – to pull off a monumental sporting fraud.

Maybe, but he's raised a tonne of awareness and money for cancer and cancer research, and that's important. Whether he is really like his persona or not, to me, is insignificant because of the good that his "character" has done.

Re: The investigation, I know and I understand, it's just too bad because he can never really be vindicated, the best he can do is be "not guilty....based on the information we have" which is sad.

Having met him a few times and then reading about him, I've never been a Lance Armstrong fan. My only hope in all of this is that Floyd Landis doesn't receive any publicity or coverage if Armstrong is somehow found guilty. I can't stand Armstrong, but he's nowhere near the level at which I despise Landis. Making money off a book full of lies, asking people for money to cover his legal fees so he could finally prove he was innocent. Even after admitting his guilt now and trying to be a fame whore, still no direct apology or reaching out to the people that stuck by him, bought his book, forked over their own income to support him.

Tyler Hamilton, a former teammate of Lance Armstrong, told "60 Minutes" that he used performance-enhancing drugs with the seven-time Tour de France winner to cheat in cycling races, including the tour.

Hamilton said Armstrong took a blood-booster called EPO in the 1999 Tour and before the race in 2000 and 2001. Armstrong won the race every year from 1999-2005.

The interview with Hamilton was broadcast on the "CBS Evening News" on Thursday.

"I saw (EPO) in his refrigerator. ... I saw him inject it more than one time," Hamilton said, "like we all did. Like I did, many, many times."

The "60 Minutes" segment, which will air in its entirety Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern, also includes an interview with another former Armstrong teammate, Frankie Andreu.

Now one of the race directors at the Tour of California, Andreu told Pelley he took banned substances because lesser riders he believed were doping were passing him. "Training alone wasn't doing it and I think that's how ... many of the other riders during that era felt, I mean, you kind of didn't have a choice," he is quoted as saying.

Andreu's wife, Betsy, who has said Armstrong discussed taking performance-enhancing drugs as doctors prepared him for cancer treatment in 1996, said she and her husband are working with investigators.

"We are cooperating, and we'll just tell the truth. And telling the truth has been costly," she said. "It's not popular to tell the truth about Lance."

unfortuantely this is probably the truth more than anything else.

Armstrong has done amazing things in his life beyond cycling and to implicate him in the use of PED's is something not many feel all that good about. However, the truth is the truth and it is becoming vary apparent he cheated.....along with most everyone else in the sport, but that doesnt exonerate him by any means.

I have a feeling this will end very badly for the guy and its really too bad.

Maybe he'll be as lucky as Marian Jones and have a 30 for 30 made about him hailing him as one of sports greatest heroes who overcame adversity despite being a lying POS who is a cheater and won't admit it.

Well Jones admitted it because she got caught red handed and went to prison. But even in her 30 for 30 she was made to look like an abused hero who was taken advantage of.

But I could definitely see a lot of people look really stupid if their hero and "livestrong" icon was proven to be a cheat.

Notice Lance's answer is always "I never a failed test", which is much different than saying "I never took PEDs".

Yep, that's one big indicator.

The other one, for me anyways, is that he was such a feel good story. He beat cancer, and went on to win a very difficult sporting competition multiple times. It's not like he was Phil Kessel, catching his testicular cancer early enough to need an amputation, and nothing more. Armstrong needed chemo. It's one of the most insanely difficult treatments for any disease that exists. Yet he comes back, and without cheating, wins the Tour De France a bunch of times? Not likely.

It's such a feel good story though, I'm 100% sure that nobody would ever lie about him doping, just for the bad publicity that would come of it. So many people have implicated him, I doubt they would just do it for fun. There is something to it.

I feel a certain amount of sympathy for Lance because he has spent years competing and winning in a sport that has encouraged drug use on every level, and now has to defend himself outside of the sport in a US matrket that doesn't know the first thing about pro cycling and so assumes doping is cheating.

Maybe Tyler Hamilton is nervous is front of cameras, but that interview wasn't very good. I didn't like many of his answers. "Lance told me", or "I saw Lance". A lot of uh's as he was talking. I don't know the truth, although it certainly doesn't look good for Lance these days.

The funny thing is that with everyone doping in the sport, their relative performance to each other probably all evened out anyway.

What an utterly sad way for them all to discredit a great sport though....how can anyone really watch it for anything but the scenery anymore.
