Priceless . . . . . although not from the period commonly identified as "The Great Depression." More like WWII era.
Where's Tom Joad . . . .?

they're more akin to colorizing a black & white photo after the fact. still pretty impressive though

The most important thing to take out of this is the fact that in New Mexico there is apparently a place called 'Pie Town!'

No, not at all.
He captured one image for each primary color, and then recombined the images using projection. They are accurate colors, not colorized after the fact.

It strikes me that the only photo where people are smiling is the tank crew shot. I wonder when it became socially unacceptable not to smile.

Hopefully soon. I'm tired of being looked at like some freak just because I don't have a shat-eating grin on my face every time someone takes a photo.

Can you imagine being around the first few times someone used a camera to capture an image of you? What a crazy idea at the time, that you could capture an image forever in a photo.

it's funny you mention that becuz this thread reminded me of something my dad told me years ago....
he was terrified to get his picture taken as a kid becuz he thought the camera somehow took part of you to get an image of you. sounds funny now, but i guess at the time if you're a kid with a wild imagination and you had never seen a camera and didn't understand how it worked i guess it would be sorta freaky
