I ate horse in France. It wouldn't trouble me to eat it again.

If you're going to eat meat, something has to get slaughtered first. I'm sure ugly creatures are just as unhappy to be slaughtered as beautiful ones. I can't see that its wrong to "nice" or "pretty" animals like horses, lambs, calves & piglets, but perfectly OK to eat cows, sheep, and "animals that had a chance to live before they died." Yah. Like hanging out in a feedlot is "living".

For $50, would you pull the wings off a beautiful butterfly? For the same $50, would you stomp on a spider? What's the difference?

I'm confused, how many butterfly wings do you want in exchange for $50?? I'm on it.

I ate it on occasion in Iceland, my sister and her family own horses and when they have to put one down (using seal clubbing method) they take the meat and freeze it so they have months of horse food.

Its good, just the fat can taste weird, even a bit nasty. So long as you cut away the fat its all good. Tastes like chicken.

"ITS NICE TO EAT YOU".............and there is pictures of cows, chickens, lambs, pigs on it. I look at it when I am stressed.

Replace "Horse" with "Brienne" and I'm sure there'd be a lot more yes in this thread...

If you eat cow I think it would be hypocritical to be opposed to eating any animal raised for food. Now if it doesn't taste good fine but if you aren't vegan you better try that horse.

I'd eath the south end of a north bound skunk if I was hungry enough. No problem trying horse whatsoever.

Not much experience with exotic meat but American Bison is freaking wonderful. YUMMMMMMMY!

Bump. Going to Toronto on Saturday and I want to pick up some horse.

I know I can get it from White House Meats in St. Lawrence Market if I special order it, but anyone have an idea of a place I can get it without ordering ahead of time?

Anyone know how much it costs?

Uproar over Top Chef Canada show when a contestant used horse meat to make a classical French dish.
Personally, I don't have a problem with it as long as the animals are treated humanely. The comments on that facebook page makes my brain hurt though

The reality TV show "Top Chef Canada" came under fire Monday over an episode in which one contestant was asked to prepare a dish using horse meat.
As the show aired Monday night, over 4,500 people had joined a Facebook group called "Boycott Top Chef — Protect the Horses," filling it with angry comments about the use of the equine meat in the instalment.

In a statement on the "Top Chef Canada" Facebook page, Food Network Canada said it did not mean to offend viewers.
"The challenge in this episode involves having the competitors create a truly authentic, traditional French menu. One of the most traditional French foods is horse meat. Horse meat is also considered a delicacy in many cultures around the world.
"While we understand that this content may not appeal to all viewers, Food Network Canada aims to engage a wide audience, embracing different food cultures in our programming."

In another statement issued early Monday evening, the network also assured viewers that "the horse meat along with all protein featured in this episode was federally approved and meets (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) standards."
It also pledged to investigate the issues surrounding the consumption of horse meat and "carefully consider all the facts around this topic should horse meat be suggested for any future production."
