I usually ride my bike to work and that generally is around 20-22 min to work depending on hitting certain lights (16th ave/2nd st NW) and 25 min home due to giant center street hill and those certain lights again. you can add 5-10 min if there is a strong North wind.
Also another thing that needs to be added at least on the commute to work for anyone that has a significant bike ride is the shower. so add 10 min of shower time.
Its about 20 min bus ride on a good day and 30 min on a stupid "hey everyone take the bus day" or a 50 min if it snows 30 cm.
approx 6km mknight blvd around center street/edmonton trail to the core.

Mine about 55 minutes one way. But I don't mind it because I travel on an unbusy stretch of highway between Edmonton and Slave Lake, basically set the cruise and relax.

For comparisons sake right now we're in Mckenzie and she either goes Deerfoot to Blackfoot or through Ogden so it's not like her commute is fantastic right now.

Those are further bonuses as far as I'm concerned.
Now, if only they'd finish that god damn bridge. I'm tired of my walk taking 20 mins when it could take 15....

They're doing something major to Elbow between Glenmore and 50th this summer.
Here's the city's page about them. Might make for ugly commutes this summer/fall/winter.

Won't the completion of the bridge essentially ensure funnelled foot traffic through a specific point which will be ripe for ambushes. Perfect for the shenanigans fotze listed.

Problem is if I moved closer to the core my commute would be nice and short but then my wifes would be nice and long and I would have to hear about it everyday at home. I don't think the complaining is worth it I would rather enjoy my bus nap and music listening time

If I was in your situation and split between both people's workplaces and didn't particularily care about being close to downtown besides work, I'd live far out too. Way cheaper, and you have transit as an option to get downtown. She likely wouldn't have a good option to get out to the middle of nowhere for work.

Moving tomorrow, my commute is going from an hour and half to about 30 minutes. Couldn't be happier about it!

20 minutes usually.. that includes picking up my car pool person, dropping off my GF at work and then going to the office in the NE. I live in Inglewood. Always seem to be going against the grain of traffic.
Shortly I plan on going back to cycling, where it will probably be a 35 minute ride or so.
It'll change to be even shorter next year when I move to Renfrew.

Some lady was complaining on the radio today about how bad her commute was from the deep south (McKenzie Town I believe?) Apparently it's over an hour for her on the deerfoot and how "Mayor Nenshi really needs to do something about this - there aren't enough roads for people . . ."
FFS, you move down there and not realizing that comes with the package - it's your own damn fault. I wanted to call the whaaaaaaaaaaambulance to pick her up.

Currently I live in Mckenzie, and while my commute time isn't an hour, I'll complain until I'm blue in the face about the bottleneck at Anderson and the bottleneck at Glenmore on Deerfoot.
Hopefully I have your permission to do that chemgear.

Agreed. Coming from Copperfield, those bottlenecks are brutal.

It really grinds my gears that I can relatively quickly take SB Deerfoot and Memorial downtown in the mornings from Beddington area (it takes ~35 minutes house to office) but the same trip reversed makes NB Deerfoot a parking lot. NB Deerfoot at the end of the day sucks so much ass. I end up taking Centre St. most of the time because of it.
