Exactly, but I doubt that most of the people there in attendance actually realize that.

Kenney has done a good job in that portfolio. One of the Conservatives rising stars.

Ugh, just got home; not a fun night to be a Liberal supporter, but at least this will force Ignatieff to step down and hopefully the party will be smart enough to select a moderate leader. Of course, I said the same thing after Stephane Dion's disastrous result last time...
At least Layton was kept out of the PM's seat in a potential coalition government, so there's that.
Congratulations to Harper for winning his long-sought majority. Now's you have to prove to Canadians that you've earned it and you really don't have a "hidden agenda". Heck, if you do well (and depending on the new Liberal leader), you might even win my vote in four years.

Wait... Layton isn't the Prime Minister? That sure sounded like a victory speech to me.

Plus, their surge drove votes in Toronto to the Conservatives, giving them their majority.

In a lot of ways, the NDP had more power in the previous government.

Give the guy a break. He just led his party to a record number of seats. Now Ignatieff's speech was insanely long, for someone who got trounced.

13,834,294 total valid votes in the 2008 election. Still counting, we've come up to that total. ...and just as I was typing this, the CBC stole my thunder. Small increase in turnout.

CBC has got to stop going to the guy in the striped suit. You don't like the conservatives, we get it. Stop editorializing.
