How in the world can Jack Layton say he will focus on fiscal responsibility with a straight face?

I giggled when Layton suggested he looked forward to sitting down with Harper to being working on issues.

No, Jack, you're going to sit down with Harper, he'll sing "Friday" to himself in his head while you blather on, then he'll go do whatever he wants.

You have no power.

Layton is going to have to whip his new MPs into shape and fast. LOL @ the pub owner in Quebec who can't speak French.

When you come out of no where to secure a seat, you're going to have a lot of fringe, weird and generally unprofessional people in your party.

The ethnics in this country are pretty well off... the NDP scares them too.

there are 6 cabinet positions to be filled. You have to figure at least 3 will go to Toronto, 1 to bc and I don't know where the other ones will be

It would not surprise me to see Laurie Hawn in Edmonton get one (either that or be Edmonton's minister in place of Rona Ambrose).

Ed Komarnicki in southern saskatchewan is another one who will get a long look. He's in the potash mine riding - tonnes of money in that riding. good choice.

Yes, sorry. I guess I meant to say the only major change for the NDP was huge gains in Quebec.

The NDP actually have less power now than they did before the election. They had the swing vote before. Now they have no real power.

Probably because they came to Canada to get away from a socialist country

I think it has more to do that Harper's minority government cut wait times dramatically for immigrant applications. He also dedicated resources to faster processing of temporary foreign workers, many of whom stay in the country.

That makes a big difference. He delivered on the immigration portfolio over the past 4 years.

Refugee platform is open to criticism, but on the immigration aspect - the major aspect - he brought in very good policies.
