Look at it this way, Harper has restored the relationship with the US after the Liberals almost wrecked it with Martin.
Now they are even in talks about a pipeline extending to the US from Alberta, when the Liberals were in charge they wouldn't even buy our beef anymore.

I could see a joining of the Liberals with the NDP before the next election, much as happened with the Conservatives and the Reform. The Democratic Liberals, the New Liberals.........
