People that think an NDP minority would be the apocalypse due to absolute financial chaos are no better than those who think that there would be social apocalypse if the Cons got a majority. Layton would get no support for his more fanciful ideas from either the Cons or Liberals, and the Bloc is not going to have enough seats to give him a majority since he's stealing their seats.
Chill out already, we won't be queueing up for bread outside the state bakery anytime soon.

I say those all those people are right, and we should therefore vote Liberal.

If Layton does get into the opposition's official residence, I sure hope his wife doesn't get to claim her living expenses and their $20,000 per month travel allowance to commute to Toronto.

One of the more bizarre moments of the federal campaign was when NDP Leader Jack Layton had the cheek to tell Quebecers that they're subsidizing the oilsands. "Under Stephen Harper, every single Quebecer is sending roughly $75 a year to subsidize dirty fossil fuel producers," he said, calling it a "gift from every Canadian to big polluters."
He said: "Quebecers have rejected that approach."

One thing that has boosted Layton is he basically dropped to his knees in that province in terms of language rights and the Carbon cap and trade.
I wonder how the provincial government will react if Jack seizes power.

Sure... but saying things that are blatantly false? That has to affect the Trust factor, no?

I doubt it. It's not whether you lie or not. It's whether you can lie with charisma. That's all that matters in Canadian politics. I'm thinking that the Conservatives should try and get George Clooney as their next leader. He'd sweep the nation and make Layton look like a chump.

I think voters are smarter than you're giving them credit for.

There are tons of reasons not to vote for the conservatives and I personally am still in the undecided column, but if that's your reason...

I don't. When someone says: "I don't agree with the NDP platform, but I really like Layton, so I voted (or am planning to vote) NDP," that's pretty telling. Not sure how you can defend that as an intelligent decision. I guarantee that if George Clooney became the leader of one of the big parties, he would win in a landslide, no matter what his platform is.

fair enough, the site would probably be more credible if they trimmed it down say 10 points, but filling it with fluff, like, "oh noes, Harper puts pictures of himself in the parlimentary lobby" just makes it look like a joke.

Well I suppose that is true enough, but at the same time I don't put blame on the voters. The CPC has really run a bad campaign. Two-three weeks ago the majority was in their grasp, and they lost it. That isn't the fault of the voters at all, thats because their message simply didn't connect, or people didn't like the leader or whatever. Its the same reason that the Liberals are likely going to get handed their worst result since confederation tomorrow night.
The other thing that should be noted is that if you're going to insinuate that the voters are dumb and then Harper gets his majority then you're going to have a hard time back-tracking on that!

I think you nailed it with the bolded part. Harper is loved by CPC supporters but no one else really cares for him. Why? Because he's bland, dry and doesn't deliver sound bites. I really do wish that the CPC had put some effort into building his image rather than just trashing Michael Ignatieff. Maybe they could have taken some photos of him with his sleeves rolled up. It probably wouldn't have killed him to grow a moustache either...
