Caps surprise Philly and take game 1 in a blowout

Mikhael Grabovski (3 goals) and Thomas Flieschmann (2 goals) paced the offense, while Tim Thomas turned aside 29 of 31 shots.

The Caps also beat the Flyers on the fight card with Chris Neil beating up Ryan Getzlaf and Chris Phillips picking on poor Henrik Sedin.

OUCH! Back to the drawing board. Almost nothing worked. We'll be fine, gamblers!

Hrmm 43 shots and only 1 goal, that sucks. And my super-awesome line of Zubrus-Demitra-Dvorak was a -3. Gotta hope for better next game.

Islanders outshoot Thrashers 44-19 on their way to taking home ice advantage away from them. A lot of that likely had to do with 5 powerplays for NYI and none for Atlanta. 4th line of Wellwood, Paille and Larose come through with the GWG less than 7 minutes left in the 3rd period.

Need to win game 2 now. Yikes, score was 3-2 but the game wasn't that close.

SABRES 4th LINE KEY TO VICTORY IN GAME 1

Sabres GM Looooob was pleased to return from 2 days buried in snow to find his team has taken game 1 in their series with long time rivals the Boston Bruins. The Bruins owned the Sabres in their last 3 matchups and soundly outshot the team in game one but it was the 4th liners leading the way for Buffalo. Mike Comrie was acquired at the trade deadline specifically to enhance the team's 4th line and he did that yesterday with a goal, and linemate Josh Bailey picked up a goal and an assist. Both players received game star nods, as did goalie Tuuka Rask who was badly beaten by the Bruins just last week. Jordan Leopold was a welcome returneed from injury , leading all players with a plus 3. the Sabres know this won't be easy but are glad to have reclaimed home ice advantage.
