Default Fence Bylaw Question?

Is there a bylaw that states you must build a fence on your property?

Here in BC you might see that type of thing in a statutory building scheme registered against your property.

i can't speak tot he bylaw - but if you stray to far off the property line and you have your property surveyed (in event of a sale) then you may need to get an ecumberance (i that that is what it is called), which is likely just another thing to do when selling your house.

it makes sense to me to build it a couple of inches on your side of the property line (in case a dispute with neighbors) - but what do i know.

As opposed to building one on city property, or opposed to not building one at all? Architectural controls in some neighbourhoods force you to have one, and usually of a certain type, if that's what you're asking. If it's about maybe scooping a couple of feet of city property along a boulevard, I think you can do that, but beware of the fact that if you've built something that is in the way of city maintenance, they'll bulldoze it and then send you a bill.

not having a fence seems like a dumb idea.

If you're going to build a fence, and looking for your property pins...don't pull them out. For the love of Anubis, do not pull them out.

Amen. I'll find plenty for you to pull out if you want to pull out pins.
