i would love to see a small market club like the rays make it to the world series. Their fan bases must be dying for some sort of justification and reward.
He is unreal. and we're living in an age where it is possible that his best years can be prolonged later into his 30's...he's gonna do okay.
Designate that guy for assaignment one run. Kid is washed up have fun in AA doc!
If the phillies can have great performances like they should from their pitchers all year I think the rest of the mlb should just pack up and go home!
How about the twins blowing 2 saves in one game for a rays win with a JOHNNNY FREAKING DAMON walkoff 2 run hr. I am not a big fan of JD but if he can keep this level of production up all year it would be a great signing for the rays. Told you it wasn't a big deal Manny retiring 1 week into season Johnny stepped up to DH and Fuld taking over in left making everyone forget about Crawford. I am all giddy about the rays again!!!
Adrian Gonzalez was given the second biggest contract in Boston Red Sox history when he agreed to a seven-year extension worth $154 million with a signing bonus early on Friday morning.
The previous ownership group gave out the franchise's most expensive contract (see: Manny Ramirez), but this is the biggest extension handed out under the current ownership group of John Henry and Fenway Sports Group.
The Mets are awful right now.
They're tied for the 3rd worst start in franchise history in which they've lost 10 of 11 and that includes back to back double headers.
I knew that it would be a tough season but I didn't know they'd be this bad.
It's still early so I still have some hope they can turn it around.

This is one of those clips that baseball seems to supply every year.
Justin verlander with the single strangest pitch you have seen. Funniest part is watch the catcher after the throw stand up and look back at him...you can see him thinking "WTF was that man?"

I dunno if they still havent spoken but why is he ( Hamilton) mad? Sure the coach sent him but he made the final decision to go. Just because a base runner is sent by a coach does not mean he has to go. Base runners also have to use their own judgement especially if the play is in front of them. Its just one of those things that happen in baseball , Hamilton needs to take some some responsibility too. Its not like the coach was trying to make him hurt himself.

I think Hamilton's frustration was coming from the fact that playing the game hard has always landed him on the DL. Guy does things the right way more often than not, but continually can't stay healthy through an MLB season. They touched on it a little more a week ago, and still were saying that they have yet to talk about the incident (whether that means they have talked at all or not, I have no idea), but I do know that the call to send him home, whether right or wrong, should not have ended with Hamilton sliding head first into home plate. That the danger of not going feet first into a catcher with gear on - and Hamilton should know that.
My fantasy team is horrible right now. I am pretty much last or close to last in all the offensive categories. My pitching is doing ok i guess though. I picked up Jerry Sands to hopefully spark my team and start producing offensively.

Tampa is hot right now! I hope they can keep this going all year
According to a story in yesterday's New York Post, 63-year-old woman has filed suit in New York federal court claiming that the New York Yankees, claiming that the team owes her family big money for stealing its logo from a design produced by her uncle some 75 years ago.

A Yankee spokeswoman described the claim to the Post as frivolous and unprovable: "This is a wonderful country, where anybody can sue for anything, even when the allegations are over 70 years old."
In their giddiness after winning for the ninth time in 12 games Tuesday night, some Giants seemed confused. They busted out the boilerplate line about how their success starts with pitching. Manager Bruce Bochy said it. Aubrey Huff and Brian Wilson did, too.
Don't they realize the Giants have outscored Arizona and Colorado 29-15 in the first five games of their trip? That they have steamed into Coors Field and beaten a supposedly superior offensive team 14-4 in two games? That they have stuck crooked numbers on the board in the first inning of all four wins against the Rockies and Diamondbacks?
Which is not to say the pitching has been chopped liver. Tim Lincecum toyed with a no-hitter in the series opener against the Rockies, and Jonathan Sanchez carried a one-hitter into the seventh inning of Tuesday night's 6-3 victory.
