I am guessing that if people were not such belligerent #######s and actually respected other people and the law these instances would decrease dramatically.
On the other hand, police officers are also people and the above applies to them as well.
How could those people have watched on like that? What cowards. Dozens of students, and you have these 3 or 4 pigs tasering a fellow student for no good reason, while he's in handcuffs. Over and over again. Just disgusting.
What? Is everyone supposed to man up and assault a cop? Whether or not the police were wrong, its not your place to make the executive decision, you'd end up in prison.

Man up and assault a cop? Please. Don't respond to my post like I'm a popped collar jager bomb drinking jerk looking for trouble.
If you see 3 cops beating someone to death, is it your duty to watch and do nothing because their cops?
How about if you saw a couple cops taking turns punching a homeless person?
How about 2 male cops raping a woman? Unlikely I guess, but, is it still not ok to intervene cuz their cops?
Is there a line that you cross? Or can a cop do whatever they please in front of you and you consider it not your responsibility to stop them?
The best thing you could do is witness it and testify in court. You'll end up in a world of #### if you think you can intervene in any meaningful way. Only reason I said man up, was after you called those people cowards.
So your answer would be no. The police could do anything they want in front of you and you'd simply be willing to testify. Is this the correct interpretation of your post?

What are you going to do hero? You talk about ridiculous what ifs. Trust me, you intervene in a police confrontation, you're more likely going to get arrested and charged than receive a key to the city.

It's an honest question please respond in kind.
Well maybe the dumbass should have just showed his ID as requested and this never would have happened. The Campus Police would not have been called etc etc.
All said and done the guy getting tazed did quite well for himself - $220 000 for a bit of pain and being a self-righteous prick with a victim mentality.

Yeah, awesome puckluck. I literally said that same thing, that these were unlikely scenarios. But I'm trying to figure out if there is a line that people are willing to cross. According to burn this city, there is no line. So I guess I would ask you the same thing... what, if anything, would cause you to intervene?

what, are you a lawyer? Cant you just answer the question? This isn't a high priced lawsuit and we aren't on record. Go ahead and answer the question.
There is no line. Under no circumstance should you try to fight a cop that is armed to the tits with weapons at his disposal. Even if the cop is breaking the law the best thing you can do is show up to court and testify against him. If you are going to try and be a hero you might not make it to court to testify against him.

so in a situation where a persons life is in jeopardy, saving his or her life comes 2nd to providing testimony when/if a trial takes place?
i guess i'd disagree.
edit: im not saying this guys life was in danger, again, trying to establish if a line exists with anyone.

police are here to serve and protect the law abiding citizens of the land. not to go on power trips and and harass people. this particular cop had a history and decided to single out the one guy cuz he looked different. and he was leaving when tough guy decided to escalate the situation.

The student failed to produce ID in a closed area and was asked to leave when he refused to do so. At this point, the officer with the history was brought in. The student was confrontational and refused to leave again despite being in a closed area where ID was required.
I contend that a "law abiding citizen of the land" would take the 12 seconds of his life to show student ID to an officer who is just doing their job. This student had a chip on his shoulder and was looking for problems - I have no problem with him being tazed at all.

Yeah he had a chip on his shoulder. In a library of white kids and asians, he, someone with a different color of skin was the ONLY person asked to show ID.
And contrary to your contention, the independent investigation claims he was leaving when tough guy grabbed him by his arm and escalated things.
Then they started assaulting him with a taser, probably for making them walk across campus and taking away from coffee time.

Lol, theonlywhiteout making racial assumptions now? Lucky asians not having different color of skin and all.

I don't know the full demographics of the library and I also do not know if he was the only one due to the situation or was simply the first. Unlike you, I will not speculate.

What you said has nothing to do with my contention. If the student had shown his ID to the Community Service Officers in the first place the offending Campus Police Officer would not have been called. The tough guy was not even there to escalate things when the confrontation was started by the student.

Don't expect any more answers as your last statement here pretty much shows that you have zero interest in a rational discussion.

Reason: poor choice of words
I dont know the full demographic either but I take the claims of the student at face value. Obviously he was upset about something as he was a student. His story makes sense. This has everything to do with submitting to an ID check. If a cop stopped you for no reason and asked for your ID without just cause, you'd be pretty upset too (I hope). Harassment from authority is something we have a right to live free of.
