I think its funny when people assume things such as another persons financial situations... But go ahead and believe what you want. 30-40K 2-3 years out of school with a joint income isnt that odd. #### my brother just bought a SLK 350 2 years out of school with his fiance... It happens a lot.


Back on topic. I would avoid the Acura RL, despite the consumer reports its actually the worst selling car in Canada... like actually, last year they only sold something like 30 of them which tells you what people think of it.

The Volvo is a nice car as well, my mom has an S40 and she loves it, it scoots and its never been a problem car ever. The interiors are really nice in them.

Id avoid Audi, they have a typical bad rap in terms of reliability.

I have an Audi too, and while I love it, their value to cost ratio has plummeted in the last 10 years. And yeah, I second the service issues.

If she's owned a TL before and liked it, she should go with one again.

Does she have to buy something brand new, or would she be open to a certified pre-owned. For the money you can save going to used...you can probably afford to buy extended warranty and still be a long ways ahead.

If she liked the Acura before, I don't see why she wouldn't like the current product.

I miss the days when I could like the car I drive....of course I really wish I'd invested that money in a company like Apple instead of buying vehicles.

There are people who make enough money to drive a nice car and avoid living in poverty. So it's not like the choice is one or the other for everyone.

Really if someone has the money that they can afford to splurge for a nice car why not? Chances are if you make a lot of money you work hard, or put in some hard work at one point in your life. No point doing that if you never plan on rewarding yourself.

There's a big difference in comfort, look and style between Walmart jeans and jeans that cost $100.

To some people, that matters. It does to me. But just because I buy expensive jeans doesn't mean I do that for everything; guaranteed I spend less than you do on a handful of other things.

Same reason why people buy fancy clothes or the latest electronic gadget. Because it brings them enjoyment. Some people spend a ton of money on fancy foods, watching shows, travelling, etc etc. What makes you spending $30K on stuff you enjoy any less ridiculous? Using your argument, if I was a non Flames fan, I can say you spending thousands of dollars on season tickets a dumb waste of money.
