can someone tell me what the hashtag #yyccc means? I get it's Calgary related, but how is it different than #yyc?

I can't seem to understand how it really works. I follow one thing but get tweets across my banner from other people...

That means the people you follow are re-tweeting other people.
It gets annoying when someone you follow re-tweets everything.

Correct, that is the hashtag used when discussing City Council matters, usually used by someone live tweeting something at council.

3 Justin 3 is correct, you're seeing the tweets that somebody you follow finds interesting. If you follow me and I retweet something I deem of value you'll see the tweet in your timeline, usually with a little thumbnail of me below it to say where it's come from.

I was mentioned by three different member of City Council from Saturday through Tuesday, including the mayor.
Also, I answered a question about the airport tunnel that someone had tweeted to the mayor, and nenshi himself was bebating with the guy as well. It sort of felt like the mayor had my back.
Errr... make that 4 members of council.

So I had a flash of inspiration today on the drive home, and thought about how awesome it would be if Growl notifications (Mac users will know what I'm talking about) could be sent to twitter, providing a poor-man's remote push monitoring solution. I get notifications all the time via Growl on events like failed backups, Drobo disk alerts, completion of torrent downloads, completed video encodes etc.
Turns out my brilliant idea was conceived, written, and published for free on the web already....2 years ago...
I feel dumb now...

This is pretty much the opposite of You Need a Thneed participating in the democratic process, but I'm @stripperpoll. I mostly post about strip clubs and related topics, so you may not want to follow me if you're an upstanding citizen, but I can always use more followers.

I only tweet for work, but every time I have to, it always says "Over capacity" and never works. Been down for 30 minuntes now. As a non-regular twitter user, it drives me nuts.

Mine is @lionelsteel. There is a link to it in my sig, because I'm the kind of person who does that.
I haven't been around CP too long, I mostly specialize in drive-by troll posts, but I'm still trying to find a gimmick.

On a side note, @NHLFlames has to be a CP user. Always uses the same nicknames (Scoreface, etc), and just the other day, hours after someone unearthed that Iggy '95 Draft Day interview on here, NHLFlames tweeted the video. I wonder who it is.. (or maybe its just a lurker)

Calgaryflames.com unearthed the Iginla draft video, and a lot of non CP users use the term "scoreface" even if it originated here.

Check out the draft video thread, it is talked about there.
Whoever runs the Flames twitter clearly lurks here, maybe even posts. And why wouldn't they? We already know several media types that peruse the site. I would imagine that quite a few Flames employees are Flames fans and what better place for them to go than Calgarypuck - The unofficial Calgary Flames fan community.
