Default Looking to get a new car

Any suggestions? Budget is $50,000 - $55,000. The car isn't actually for me, it's for my mom but because I "know my way around the internet" she wants me to give her some suggestions. Currently, she has an Infiniti G37 (which she doesn't like) and before that she had an Acura TL (which she loved). So, any thoughts?

BMW 335xi

AWD means good in the snow, Plus they are nice little cars and can scoot pretty good.

It's what i plan on getting in 2-3 years.

If she loves the TL so much, why not get her the 2012? Its a sweet ride, pretty reasonably priced.

Damn, I wish I had a trust fund like you Tyler. How can you get a care like that within a couple years of finishing undergrad?

I'm always amazed at what people are willing to spend on a car. Not judging at all, I just don't see myself spending a ton of money on something whose value will completely decay.

I know quite a few people who were making 60-80 a year who had similar cars after a year or two of undergrad. Question of priorities.

Oh I get that. Personally, I put my money into real estate after undergrad and continued to drive my ####box neon into the ground for 12 years.

I suppose. Of course you could always just drive a cheaper car for a long time too

Again, people choose to spend their money the way they want, I just don't see spending north of 40k on a car. Mind you others would likely say that's a lot as well

Back on topic:

I would look into buying an American car. If you have that much cash 50k will take you a looooooooon way south of the border.

I love these threads. Instead of providing something relevant to the original post, people like to question why on earth anyone would spend X amount?

No kidding... I'd be happy to start a "why do people buy expensive cars" thread, but if we could stay on topic here that would really be appreciated

I don't care if other people choose to spend x amount on a car, it's just a comment.

Back on track, is your mom looking for a luxury car? Roadster? Something with more utility?

She's looking for luxury. She also wants it to have good fuel mileage and for it to handle well. I think the Acura is a good place to start since she has owned one in the past and they are very reasonably priced. Has anyone here owned a Lexus? Any thoughts on them?

Subaru Forester. This car handles all seasons and has major storage space.

He didn't say new. You can get a BMW certified 335 a year or two old in the mid 30s.

Exact opposite. I'm always amazed at people who see a car as a point A point B thing. To each his own, I guess.

Back on topic. Can't belive I'm saying this, but we were in the GM dealership last week and took a look at the the new Buick Regal.

Very nice car, fully loaded turbo runs an MSRP of 42.
