They won't be the Moose, but most likely Manitoba something. That being said this was all setup for the Thrashers to come here and not the Coyotes but with everything that has happened in Gongdale and Winnipeg being used as leverage if the Coyotes do come here people would want the Jets.

Of course Minnesota did just find going from the Stars to Wild.... except their team sucks.

Well that sucks. I only care about this for nostalgia value. The Jets not being the jets seems wrong, especially when it is the same franchise!

I am fully on board and excited about the Winnipeg Jets coming back. I don't really remember the Jets too much except for Selanne's rookie 76 goal season. In fact after a few years I'm sure I'll start to hate the Jets.

If they come back as anything but the Winnipeg Jets they will instantly be up there in terms of hate with Vancouver.

All the Jets fans in this thread who I fully support right now will instantly become disgusting Moose trolls.

I never liked the idea of bringing a team back to the same city, especially a city with a smaller corporate community to support it. Will be interesting to see how they do the second time around.

It's hard to think of any meaningful names form Winnipeg (or Manitoba) besides the Jets or Moose.

Louis Riels?
Strikers?
Voyagers?
Lakers?
Bison?
Muskies?
Crocus?
Owls?
Mosquitos?

Personally, I like Manitoba Winterpigs... but I doubt they would go for it.

Part of the problem is that going with a state/province name is lame, so any name that begins Manitoba ____ will suck, even if it was the Manitoba Jets. They should leave the name alone, imo.

The Manitoba Flood?

Time will be short for next year if the official OK does come down. They likely have a complete marketing plan regarding name, colors, sales promotions etc. waiting in the wings ready to launch almost immediately.

How about the Manitoba Reds? There is the Blues and the Blue Jackets so Reds isn't a big issue with Red Wings.

I think that's the big thing. If the Thrashers were the team to move, I think they'd go away from the Jets name, but if the Yotes end up moving back, there will likely be a lot of public pressure to resurrect the Jets name.

I was never a fan of their logos, putting your name in a circle and turning one of the letters into a hockey stick is one of the most uninspired designs you can do, but as we've seen with the Oilers and Islanders, when people are attached to something (no matter how ugly), they're attached to it.

Analysis: Phoenix Coyotes deal would make Glendale money

http://www.azcentral.com/community/g...-analysis.html

Neither Glendale nor Goldwater has offered a comprehensive look at the bottom line for taxpayers.

The Arizona Republic used interviews and dozens of documents, including city-commissioned studies on the deal, to examine the money at stake.

The Republic's analysis shows that keeping the team is expected to be an economic benefit to Glendale if its studies pan out.

Those benefits would shrink if assumptions used by the city and its consultants fall short.

"There's an awful lot of optimism bias," James said. "If any of those (projections) don't work out the way they want them to, the city's in big trouble."

Other problems could emerge if Glendale's bond sale goes off track.

City leaders have repeatedly referred to the loss of more than $500 million in sales-tax revenue and team fees should the Coyotes leave. But that figure assumes all city sales-tax hauls at Westgate and the arena would fall to zero if the team left. There's no doubt Coyotes fans frequent the outdoor dining-and-shopping complex, but the city has completed no survey of how many Westgate patrons also come for football games, movies, concerts and dining.

James said sales taxes could dip but wouldn't be demolished. "People will still spend money. They'll just spend it on other things," the ASU professor said.

I was thinking "Grays" because their provincial bird is the gray owl, but the haters would start calling them the "gays".

The Manitoba Whitefish.

If they could work this into a logo it would be a bonus

Manitoba Jets
Manitoba Warriors
Manitoba Falcons
Manitoba Lakers.. I kinda like that. The Lake show.

Winnipeg Jets should be it tho, and, it's Ph oenix instead of Atlanta public pressure will be enourmous to go with the right choice.

What about pulling something from the rich Metis history in Manitoba, like Manitoba Voyageurs?
