Ouch. Harper apparently didn't prepare for the coalition question either.

Interesting response to Duceppe on the 2004 letter question.
There was nothing in that letter that talked about replacing the government. I'd love to see Duceppe and Layton defend that.

The longer Harper argues with Duceppe about this, the worse he looks.

Layton gets a good punch in there against Ignatieff.

How do you figure that, he just basically told Layton and Duceppe that they were dishonest in what they understood.

Come on: he had an agreement to form a government with the support of other parties.
The difference between that and a coalition is this: there isn't one. Harper's a hypocrite on this issue--thus his obvious panic over the question.

"I'm happy to work with Mr. Duceppe."
I'll bet anyone $10 that shows up as an out-of-context quote in an anti-Ignatieff attack ad within a few days.

His explanation is "both of these guys are lying about what happened"? Not going to fly.

Steve... that's exactly how it works according to every social studies book I read in school! Geez.
Is Harpers voice trembling a bit?

Exactly. At the end of this debate people have to go back to their regular lives. You have one candidate who is driving home comments about hypothetical arguments regarding democracy etc. On the other hand you have another candidate who is discussing points about the economy.
We get it, Ignatief thinks Harper is a dictator in democratic clothing... we've got it since the election was called.
This debate has turned into a farce now... pretty much looks like a tutorial discussion I once had for POLI 101 regarding Canada's constitutional conventions.

I'm not kidding when I say I can't understand what he's saying sometimes. I'm not trying to be THAT GUY--I just find myself squinting at the TV and shaking my head.
