For 1 week only be the first to stream the entire new TV On The Radio album, Nine Types Of Light, exclusively at Rhapsody on "The Leak". Listen to the new album now, it will be available everywhere 4/12/11.
Streaming the new Foos right now. I have some hopes but I doubt I'll like it. It's been a few years now since I feel they've done anything good. The first song is meh, and I hate the single... unless it's being remixed by Deadmau5
EDIT: People are going to go ape poop for this Foo album... it's better than I was expecting, but a little too polished for my tastes. I'll bet it sounds good live though, when Dave can get back to his punk roots. I would be willing to bet "These Days" is the next single and that it makes them a billion dollars. It's going to be the overplayed rock song of the summer.
I like "White Limo" the best... reminds me of "Weenie Beenie" from back in the day. The rest of it is 100% radio friendly... good for them, but a little disappointing when it's so obvious the band could be a lot better. I didn't make it through any of the last four songs.
It's going to make me nauseous when people call this album "heavy".
I saw the little documentary film last night on Palladia. Really looking forward to this album. Bob Mould sounds incredible. Krist Novoselic played on the record too. The album was produced on tape with Butch Vig at the helm all in Dave's garage.

Nine Types of Light is as much an album as it is a movie by TV on the Radio. The movie is meant to be a visual re-imagining of the record, and includes a music video for every song on the album. The band personally asked their friends and the filmmakers they admired to help direct the music videos. Tunde Adebimpe, the director for the full Nine Types of Light movie, storybooked the music videos together with interviews from local New Yorkers on various topics, including dreams, love, fame and the future. Tunde also directed the music video for Forgotten. Nine Types of Light, both the album and the movie are set to release on April 12, 2011.

Haha, thanks I hadn't seen that before. Dave Grohl is still so clearly awesome.
I guess I should appreciate the good things he does instead of whining about the stuff I don't like. I hope they can make a few billion off of their top 40 songs so they can continue to have the creative control to throw a few gems my way. I also hope they come our way when they go out to tour. I saw them back in 2000 and ended up with a broken nose... still drove to Quebec City to see STP/RHCP the next day. That was a pretty good weekend..
On topic, Classified's new album dropped a couple weeks ago so I'm gonna plug it here. The first single is kinda crappy if you ask me, so here's a track that IMO will better sell what Class is all about. He does all his own production, in case people don't know that. He's playin' here Thursday night as well.
Sorry for the double post, but I just realized it's the 12th and Atmosphere's new LP is out today. Downloaded it a few days ago and it's a pretty good listen. I wouldn't throw it on during a party, but it's damn good in a set of a headphones. Slug has been one of my favourite MCs since I got in to hiphop, which was admittedly only about 10 years ago... weird seeing him being a dad. Oh, and the only reason I downloaded this one is because I pre-ordered it from fifth element like 2 months ago!
Pretty good video, see if you can spot Brother Ali... haha

Every time these guys come out with an album I try really hard to like it, but they are sofa king terrible, it's unbearable. I don't know how you could like that song.
Inside these skulls were hidden USB's with a total of four new tracks inside! Eat a giant skull Gummi get new music? I like where this is going. The four tracks found inside the skull are entitled “Drug Chart”, “In Our Bodies Out of Our Heads”, “Walk With Me”, and “Hillary’s Time Machine Machine”. We have the tracks for you to listen to right kere on SKo
Here's a combination nobody expected: According to his Twitter, OutKast rapper Big Boi is in the studio, working with Portland indie big dogs Modest Mouse. Go ahead, close your eyes. Think. Imagine how a Modest Mouse song with Big Boi on it will sound. You can't. It's impossible.
Details are scarce right now, but Big Boi sent a couple of Tweets out yesterday on the subject. First: "Me and @mouche1 [OutKast producer Chris Carmouche] in the studio workin with Modest Mouse on their new album Turnt up ! Shout out to Issac and the crew!" This probably doesn't mean that the new Modest Mouse album will be called Turnt Up, but we can't rule it out.
In other Modest Mouse news, as TwentyFourBit points out, in the video below, the Portland-centric video series "Don't Move Here" dedicates an episode to Modest Mouse. At the 7:56 mark, frontman Isaac Brock and other Modest Mouse members play a new song at Brock's house. (Big Boi doesn't show up.)
