The Chick Pee Diet
http://calgary.ctv.ca/servlet/an/loc...ub=CalgaryHome
Quote:
A diet that uses injections of the pregnancy hormone hCG to "trick" the body into accepting an ultra-low calorie diet is growing in popularity -- and controversy.
Proponents say the diet is safe and effective. But plenty of other doctors say the diet is anything but.
Kelowna, B.C., nurse Debbie Driscoll is currently on the hCG diet for the second time. During the first round, she lost about 25 pounds. She gained a few back and is trying the diet again to lose that weight and then some.
As part of the diet, she's down to just 500 calories a day. While she says she sometimes feels light-headed, she also says she's never hungry.

Has anyone here tried it? Would you consider trying it?

It's disheartening when nurses fall for this crap. I know one who is anti-vaccine. WTF do they teach these chicks?

Somehow I suspect the weight loss from this kind of diet just might not be sustainable.
It might be useful for treating extreme cases: people who can't exercise and whose health is severely compromised and in need of immediate intervention. But for the general populace, if you want to sustain weight loss, you need to change your lifestyle. This looks like a quick fix of limited utility.

Went on the HCF page just out of curiosity.
Turned away immediately when I noticed that one of the people that endorsed this is:
Kevin Trudeau.
Damn scam artists.

Ugh, why would I want to be on a diet of drinking hot girls urine?
I'm surprised it's not endorsed by Bear Grylls

Miracle cure that doesn't deal with with root cause of the person's fatness (crap diet and/or no exercise).
Just like all the others before it, this isn't a diet, it's a fad.

I do one HCG shot per cycle that I do fertility treatments and have no clue why someone would willingly stab themselves with that crap. Boggles my mind the lengths people will go for a weight loss placebo.

Four women at my work place have done this "diet". One of the dieters is a nurse and one teaches exercise and nutrition classes .
From what I have seen, all of the women lost weight, two of them over 20lbs. in one month...so technically, I guess it works...at least short term. I don't see how it can be sustainable though, as it is expensive for the hormone pee and it can't be healthy to be at a starvation level of calories.
I find it amazing as to what people will do to lose weight (minus exercise of course). Barnum was right, there's a sucker born every minute...most likely more.
Oh, three of the women got extremely bitchy while doing the diet, and had very little energy. The really fat one was still pleasant and had plenty of energy...probably due to extra fat reserves...she also lost the most weight.

If Team America has taught me anything, it's that there's a whole fetish subculture devoted to that.

Jesus. And I thought the women I knew who were hovering just under 1200 cals/day right now were insane. That woman is so going to crash big time - I'll lay money she'll gain all her weight back and then some in the next six months to a year.
