Fact is that most people given the choice of all games to watch today would pick the Yankees and Bo Sox.
I know thats the one game in MLB that I'm interested to see today. Will be a nice way to pass two hours waiting for the Masters.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, Buchholz agreed to a four-year contract extension on Sunday afternoon that carries a total value of around $30 million.
The deal will cover all three of his arbitration years and his first season of free agency. He’s making just over the league minimum this season.

For the sake of my fantasy team I hope that doesn't make him go Josh Beckett or John Lackey....He's been bad enough as is to start the season...I can't have him pitch any worse than he already has.

Lol, you're telling me. He has really struggled so far. But luckily his suckage has been nowhere close the garbage performances from Lackey, and I'm hoping for Beckett to bounce back tonight. Bucholz's next start is scheduled to be Friday against the Jays, going head to head with Cecil so we'll see how he performs then.

Everybody knew he wasn't going to be an every day player. If anything having him retire would make one of your young guys get the chance to step up and excel into the role or fail miserably and you can trade for someone else. Having manny leave doesn't throw a team under the bus since everyone prepared going into it that he could be a liability and if it worked out great if it didn't not that big of a deal and move on.

I think Barry Zito is done as a starting pitcher.
Giants-Dodgers rivalry has history of fan violence

I'm not sure I agree with you on this. They were expecting Manny to produce from the DH spot and in the middle of their lineup - and judging by week 1 results, they really needed that bat in their order. Now what do they have for DH option? Johnny Damon? Blah, if I were a Rays fan I would be seriously concerned that my team may not win 80 games this year - that lineup without Longoria in it is bad enough - and with him on the shelf, it is even worse. Their only hope of stay above .500 is on the strength of their starting staff, because their bullpen is riddled with question marks.

The Redsox and Rays start a 3 game series tonight, the two teams with the lowest winning percentages in baseball. Projected pitchers are:
Hellickson (0-1) vs. Matsuzaka (0-1)
Price (0-2) vs. Lester (0-0)
Shields (0-1) vs. Lackey (1-1)

I am a big Giants fan and attend 3-5 games a year at Pac Bell (i still cant call it AT&T). In a strange way I feel bad for Zito, despite the fact that he is making $18.5M per season and has 3 yrs left on his current deal (..and we bitch about Bouwmeester).
He seems like a good team guy and I am sure it sucked to sit on the bench through the Giants incredible run last fall. As it stands, I am pretty sure Zito will hold the unofficial MLB "record" for the highest paid, non-roster player to ever get a World Series ring for a long time.

Expecting manny to produce yes. But not on a daily basis. And really what do you expect from a team with that high of a starting day roster turn over as the rays had this year. Give it time and they will Gel like back in 08. Remember the 08 rays did not start that great either. There are going to be growing pains but once the team gets going they will be in the race with yankees and red sox just like last year. Rays won AL east last year without a DH I am sure they can do it again!

Great rally by the Mariners last night!
Down 7-0 in the 7th inning, they have a huge 8th inning to draw it to 7-6. They seal the deal in the 9th with a walk off 2 run single after a great at bat by Luis Rodriguez.
Rally fries in full effect!

DETROIT -- Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton will be sidelined for six to eight weeks with a small non-displaced fracture of the humerus bone just below his right shoulder. Hamilton injured himself sliding into home plate in the first inning of Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Tigers.
The fracture did not show up on the X-rays, but did show up on an MRI image that was examined by Dr. Keith Meister, the Rangers' team physician. Hamilton will go on the disabled list, while infielder Chris Davis will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.

I would love to see a small market club like the Brewers or Royals make it to the world series. Their fan bases must be dying for some sort of justification and reward.
