Post your pic and I will give you a good idea of how well you'll be tipped. Did they write 110 on your resume?

Might be an interesting read for you. What everyone has suspected about those type of restaurants for years, is starting to come to light:

You might not do well if you were born in 1959.

Just starting to? Unfortunately I don't think it takes a newspaper saying it to bring it to light; it's been burned into public knowledge for a long time now. Everyone knows someone who has worked in one of these places, and all it takes is one anecdote or borderline sexual harassment story to know that it all goes down.

but in the article management denies this type of hiring practice - thus it must be a coincidnce that a lot of thier staff are attractive, slender and racktastic........

anywyas, i'd like to know who really thinks about the wait staff when they decide to go some place for chow......

In all honesty, it doesn't effect me when it comes to deciding where to eat. But I'd be lying if I said it didn't effect the way I tip.

I live in Edmonton, so there really isn't a choice. I go to Boston Pizza. Good food and a happy ending.

I guess I didn't ask this question correctly! I mean is this a busy location? It is kind of hard to tell since it is in a mall

ps - pylon, what does 110 mean? I got hired on the spot so nothing was on my resume but j/w

110 is referenced in the link he provided.... Your quote clearly answers the question that 110 was not listed on your resume.

As for the location, been there quite a few times its always been very busy.

It is lined-up for lunch every day. A lot of seniors eat there.

The few times I've been in there, usually in the evenings, after 6pm, it looked decently busy. I can't ever recall having to wait for a table, though, so I've never seen it "packed".

To answer your other question: "To be sure no 'uglies' even got an interview, Hawker said he and other front of house staff were directed to screen applicants coming through the door at Moxie's, and mark resumes with a "110" (one-ten) if they were unattractive. It's an internal code for "do not call," he said. (Put a diagonal line between the pair of ones and it forms 'NO'). Similar practices are allegedly in place at other restaurants across the country."

I'll freely admit I do - and I can hardly be alone, as craptastic places like Joey Tomato's, Earl's and for that matter - Moxie's - are always busy, and it certainly can't be the food.

In fairness to the restaurant industry I don't want gross ugly people serving my food. Frankly, I don't want them making my food, but I can't see the cooks so I suspend disbelief.

I knew a guy who used to work there. Think it would be good if you're a student or something. The guy always had $50's on him.
